Are you as excited as us for all the Netflix shows confirmed or expected to come out in 2023? We can’t wait for the return of shows like YouOuter BanksThe Witcher and Shadow and Bone. However, there are some Netflix shows we know for sure won’t be coming back this year, and it’s some of the streamer’s biggest series. Read on to find out which Netflix shows won’t be returning in 2023.

Look, we don’t want you to start panicking. The Netflix shows we’re going to list will definitely be returning, just not as soon as this year. Although it sucks that some shows won’t be coming back in 2023, I guess you could say these shows were expected not to return. Why? Well, it’s very likely that they won’t be finished with the filmmaking process to make a 2023 release.

Now, get ready because here are five Netflix shows that definitely won’t be back in 2023!

Netflix shows that won’t be back in 2023: Stranger Things season 5

Of course, we had to start with the best show on Netflix, Stranger Things.

With the release of Stranger Things season 4, the sci-fi show became the most expensive Netflix original series. It was reported that each episode of the fourth season cost the streamer $30 million. Since the budget went up significantly for the fourth season, we’re expecting the fifth and final season to be just as expensive or more. We’re also expecting a high production value for Stranger Things season 5, like the fourth season.

But unfortunately, we won’t see the Stranger Things kids back on our screens as soon as 2023 because the cast and crew will be hard at work filming the final season. Once production wraps, we’ll most likely be looking at a lengthy post-production process which would take place throughout the rest of the year. So, our best release prediction for now would be sometime in 2024.

According to a GQ interview with David Harbour, he said that the Duffer Brothers will finish writing the scripts for the fifth season in 2022. He also said that he thinks production on Stranger Things season 5 will start in 2023 and that it will probably be released “mid-2024.” However, this hasn’t been confirmed by Netflix or the Duffer Brothers, so we’ll have to take it with a grain of salt. Still, Harbour’s release prediction seems very possible at the moment.

The most recent update on Stranger Things season 5 was provided by Noah Schnapp. The Stranger Things star revealed on TikTok live that filming on the fifth season will begin in May 2023. However, keep in mind that the production start date could change. But for now, expect the cameras to start rolling this spring.
