4 Netflix leading men who should be the next James Bond

Any of the four would be great.

James Bond fans learned last week that the oversight of future Bond films will change hands. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will seemingly no longer be in charge. Instead, Amazon MGM Studios has spent $1 billion to take control.

This is not a great surprise. Amazon purchased MGM in 2022, but that did not include full control of the Bond franchise. Now, the studio can move ahead with making a new film. That means casting a new actor to play Bond as Daniel Craig has said he did not want to do the role anymore.

But who could the next Bond be? One of the frontrunners is Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The assumption is that Bond-makers will want a younger actor to take on the iconic role, and Taylor-Johnson is only 34. But should these actors well-known to Netflix viewers also be in the running?

Four actors Netflix viewers know well who could be worthy to play James Bond

Henry Cavill

The question at this point is not why Cavill hasn't been reportedly offered the role of James Bond, but why he hasn't. There is little doubt he can do action, and he commands the screen. He also has a sneaky sense of humor that would translate well to Bond.

Maybe he has simply done too much at this point. Bond producers might not want to have fans ask, "Was Cavill better as Bond or Superman?" (Or, heck, the Witcher.) They might want the character to stand alone.

Regé-Jean Page

Would it be such a bold move to have a Bond that is not white? It shouldn't. In fact, imagining Page as the iconic character makes complete sense. He is suave and calm to say, "Shaken not stirred," with ease. He might be the coolest Bond ever.

The Bridgerton star also appeared in Netflix's The Gray Man, so he knows how to do action and not just ooze sexiness. He won't turn 40 years old for a few years, so he should be set to play the role for at least three or four films. At this point, he deserves the chance to be Bond and filmgoers deserve to see the role in a new way.

Dan Stevens

Stevens is part of the new Netflix series, Zero Day. He is likely better known as Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey or Charles Dickens as The Man Who Invented Christmas. Don't let those period pieces fool you, though. Stevens gives off a mysterious vibe that would play well as Bond.

Do producers go with another blond Bond? Maybe not. Maybe Stevens hasn't shown the roughness that Bond needs, but one who has seen Stevens in many different roles knows he can probably do anything he wants and do it well.

Paul Forman

Forman is going to be a relative unknown to most of the viewing public. Only if one loves Emily in Paris might they be pulling for him to be the next Bond. Still, he does have several things on his side to argue the fact.

The assumption is that producers will want a young version of Bond to take over the role and keep that role through several films. Forman is just 30 years old. He also can furrow his brow and smolder. His work so far has been a bit all over the place, including an episode of Doctor Who, but that only makes him an underdog and that could be a great element to bring to Bond.
