Henry Cavill must be peeved. He has had the role of Superman taken away from him, as well as Geralt in The Witcher. The problem for fans is that he was good enough in both of those roles, where it's challenging to see someone else play them.
The new Superman film comes out this summer, and without Cavill, it just seems meh. The first trailers are uninspiring. Maybe it became a bit too camp with Cavill, but it was still fun.
As far as the new season of The Witcher on Netflix, we thought that would be coming in 2025. It was on the slate of series Netflix announced were coming at some point this year when it released its massive list of 2025 shows in January. But are we still getting season 4 of one of our favorite shows?
Will Netflix fans see any new episodes of The Witcher in 2025?
The answer to that is trending toward "unlikely." The giant streamer already has a number of incredibly popular series coming out relatively back-to-back. The final season of Squid Game is dropping on June 27. Season 2 of Wednesday is arriving in August, with part two coming in September.
The final season of Stranger Things will be released in three parts. The first is coming on November 26, the second part on Christmas Day, and the finale on New Year's Eve. There simply seems to be no space for The Witcher.
Netflix's trend of splitting the seasons of popular shows might make fitting in The Witcher much more difficult.
It is also telling that we heard nothing about the series during Netflix's annual Tudum event at the end of May. There were several release dates teased, and many trailers of series, but not a whiff of anything having to do with The Witcher. This implies we are likely waiting until 2026 to see new episodes.
Once we do see the series, it will look different. Maybe, unlike how potentially low the quality of the new Superman movie might be,
Instead of Cavill, Liam Hemsworth will take over as Geralt. Hemsworth's career has been a bit hit-and-miss, and he hasn't had to lead a popular series. He has been the featured actor before, but in lesser-known projects. How well will he translate to Geralt?
