As one month ends, another begins. This week marks the official end of July and the beginning of August, and if you're a loyal Netflix watcher, then you know that the start of each month always brings a heap of new releases. Let's get into what to watch on Netflix this week!

The first of August unleashes a wide variety of movies, from nostalgic throwbacks like Mr. Deeds, White Chicks, and Not Another Teen Movie to recent favorites like Tarot and Room. Two Dr. Seuss movies, multiple Chucky movies, and plenty more hidden gems are yet to be rediscovered on Aug. 1 ahead of the release of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon director's cut double feature on Aug. 2.

Beyond the Rebel Moon marathon awaiting your watch list, other Netflix originals coming this week include the new coming-of-age mystery series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, a new season of comedy series Unstable, a SpongeBob spinoff movie, and more.

While there are so many awesome new release titles coming to Netflix this week, here are four of the biggest highlights you don't want to miss on your watch list!

Fire Country season 1

Netflix has been acquiring so many fan-favorite shows, and there are plenty more still to come throughout August. But the month of excellent binge-watching kicks off with the addition of the first season of the hit CBS drama series Fire Country. The firemen procedural centers on a convict who returns to his hometown to assist with the fire department. On top of fighting California wildfires, the Cal Fire team has more drama than a firehose could extinguish. The first season contains 22 episodes and hits Netflix on Aug. 1.

Prison Break seasons 1-5

Both a throwback and a timeless favorite for many viewers, all five seasons of Prison Break returned to Netflix as of July 29. The series first premiered on Fox back in August 2005 (almost 20 years ago!) and ended in May 2009 before returning with a fifth season back in 2017. So far, season 6 isn't happening, but it's not about what's coming next, it's about reliving one of the best small-screen shows. The complete series brings 90 episodes to Netflix, which will keep all of us plenty busy while we rewatch the series or watch it for the first time!

Unstable season 2

Apart from the two major acquisitions coming to Netflix this week, a number of originals also drop, including the second season of Rob Lowe's father-son comedy series Unstable. Lowe stars alongside his real-life son John Owen Lowe in the quirky series about an estranged pair coming together to work at the family's massive bio-tech company. It's an underrated series worth watching, so dive into both seasons, which are only eight episodes each, when season 2 arrives on Aug. 1.

Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie

Are you ready to head back to Bikini Bottom? It's been 20 years since the first SpongeBob SquarePants movie was released in theaters in 2004, and 25 years since the series first premiered on Nickelodeon. In celebration of the anniversary, there's a brand-new spinoff movie hitting Netflix on Aug. 2 centered on everyone's favorite sea squirrel Sandy Cheeks. In the movie, Sandy and SpongeBob find themselves in Texas in order to save Bikini Bottom. Do not miss the exciting, hilarious, and surely nostalgic adventure that awaits in Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
