Rob Lowe preps for prison in Unstable season 2 teaser (Plus, get the release date!)

The funniest father-son duo on Netflix is back! In celebration of Netflix Is A Joke Fest, on Monday, May 6, the streamer officially announced the Unstable season 2 release date. Ellis and Jackson will be back for more funny faux pas when season 2 releases on Thursday, Aug. 1 on Netflix.

In the upcoming eight-episode follow up season, Rob Lowe's Ellis continues to dish out tests and challenges for his son and hopeful heir to the Dragon empire, Jackson, but Ellis' protege just might have some of his own ideas for the family dynasty up his sleeve.

Along with the exciting announcement of the release date for season 2, Netflix also unveiled a first look at the upcoming episodes, and it's an expectedly hilarious preview of the wild events to come. New photos also provide a glimpse new guest stars Lamorne Morris and Iris Apatow!

Netflix debuts hilarious Unstable season 2 teaser

The Unstable season 2 teaser opens with Ellis behind bars in an orange jumpsuit and screaming about the walls closing in. However, he walks to the end of his "cell" and makes his escape through the large opening, revealing Fred Armisen's Leslie timing his latest preparation for prison. How's that for a bait and switch?! Ellis isn't in prison... yet, apparently.

An unenthused Jackson walks down the stairs in a towel, understandably complaining about Ellie and Leslie turning off the hot water as further preparations for the mock prison trial. The rest of the preview showcases the other bits of shenanigans to come throughout the season and offers blink-and-you'll-miss-it teases of Lamorne Morris and Wendi McLendon-Covey.

In addition to the teaser that fans will be rewatching over and over until the full trailer drops later this summer, Netflix also dropped a handful of new photos from Unstable season 2. The pictures show Ellis and Jackson clearly having a tense moment on the tennis court (and you can see why after that mishap featured in the teaser) and donning black motion capture suits. Rob and John Owen clearly don't have any fun together while filming their show!

Perhaps the most thrilling photos of the bunch debut the new faces joining the cast. New Girl fan-favorite Lamorne Morris appears in the series as Peter, a new rival for Ellis, while Love and The Bubble star Iris Apatow plays Dragon intern Georgia. And by the looks of the photo of Georgia and Jackson, there might be an office romance happening between the pair. See the new characters in the photos below and make your own predictions!
