Surprise! One of the biggest hit broadcast shows will be making its way onto Netflix for the first time in August 2024. The CBS procedural drama series Fire Country was quietly added to Netflix's upcoming new release roster for August, as the first season will begin streaming at the top of the month. That's such exciting news for fans of the series!

For those who haven't yet watched the series, Fire Country centers on convict Bode Donovan (played by series co-creator Max Thieriot) as he works as a volunteer firefighter in order to both decrease his sentence and seek redemption. Bode works with Cal Fire in his Northern California hometown, working alongside his crew to fight fires and his past.

The shortened second season recently finished airing its 10 episodes in May 2024, and CBS also handed the series a renewal for season 3 along with the pickup of spinoff series Sheriff Country. The first season contains 22 episodes, which will be quite the enticing binge-watch for new viewers, as well as established fans looking to relive the debut run before season 3.

Fire Country coming to Netflix in August 2024

As mentioned above, Fire Country will begin streaming on Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 1. The first season will be available on Netflix in the United States; other regions aren't able to be confirmed at this time. Both seasons of the series will still remain available to watch on Paramount+, where season 2 currently streams exclusively. Fingers crossed it's next up to hit Netflix!

Fire Country's addition to Netflix, while a pleasant surprise, isn't completley out of the blue. Netflix and CBS have a bit of a relationship, as the streamer has shared streaming rights with a number of it's shows over the years. Most recently, S.W.A.T. and Young Sheldon (produced by Warner Bros.) became hits on Netflix, along with the likes of NCIS, Evil, and even the Paramount+ original School Spirits.

As Netflix continues to make strides in acquiring shows from all over the television landscape, including Disney and AMC, the storied "Netflix bump" has been revived and entered a renaissance era. If there's any show on the small screen that's most likely to — and deserves to — have more eyeballs on it via the Netflix bump, it's Fire Country. Seriously, check this one out on Aug. 1.

The show's Netflix debut comes ahead of the third season premiere this fall on CBS. There's no premiere date as of this writing, but the show airs Fridays at 9/8c. (The spinoff, Sheriff Country, will debut during the 2025-26 season.) Hopefully, all future seasons will also hit Netflix, but we'll have to wait and see.
