The first full week of May has arrived, and it's the big lead up to Mother's Day. In celebration of the holiday, Netflix has the mother of all romantic comedies set to premiere this weekend. Miranda Cosgrove and Brooke Shields team up for a sweet com-com, but it's not the only treat in store for Mother's Day weekend. Reba is back on Netflix, too!

Beyond two titles that will have you laughing, if you're looking for something to keep you on the edge of your seat after finishing Baby Reindeer and A Man in Full, Netflix serves up a new dark comedy thriller series with Bodkin, as well as the exciting second season of the animated series Blood of Zeus. As always, there's a little bit of everything.

Here are four of the Netflix new release highlights of the week, all of varying genre. If you're in the mood for a romantic comedy this week, you're going to love the first pick.

Mother of the Bride

When Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) becomes engaged to RJ (Sean Teale), it's much to the surprise of her single mother, Lana (Brooke Shield). The destination wedding in Thailand provides even more surprises when Lana discovers that RJ's father Will (Benjamin Bratt) was her college sweetheart that got away. Awkward! The movie also stars Rachael Harris, Chad Michael Murray, Wilson Cruz, and Michael McDonald. Mother of the Bride makes a very apt and charming Mother's Day Weekend watch when it makes its premiere on May 9.

Nostalgia alert! All six seasons of Reba McEntire's eponymous sitcom Reba began streaming on Netflix on May 6, and it's never a bad idea to rewatch the series that will make you laugh our loud. Even over 20 years removed from when the series began in 2001, the comedy hasn't lost an ounce of its charm. Whether you start a rewatch with your mom, your friends, or by yourself, or even if you're deciding to check it out for the very first time, you won't be sorry.

Looking to add a little mystery to your life this week? Bodkin debuts on May 9, and the series has all the makings of becoming the next runaway hit Netflix series. Similarly themed to other true crime-theme shows about podcasters turned mystery solvers, Netflix's Bodkin centers on a group of three podcasters diving into the disappearances of three locals in small town in Ireland. The first season contains seven episodes, but you'll be tempted to finish them all in one sitting.

Have you been waiting for a new season of Blood of Zeus since 2020? Well, season 2 will finally be released on May 10 and is the week's top animated title to watch on Netflix. The first season of the action-fantasy series was released back in October 2020, but it's time to return to Heron's journey as a demigod in Ancient Greece. Don't miss a second of the adventurous anime when season 2 drops this week! There's even still time to catch up with the first season.
