Chad Michael Murray proves he's still a heartthrob in new Mother of the Bride photos

Chad Michael Murray will return to playing a character named Lucas soon, sadly no, not Lucas Scott of One Tree Hill fame, but a new character in the Netflix rom-com Mother of the Bride! Still, we can't see the character name as anything other than a nod to Murray's broody basketball player/writer from the long-running teen drama.

On March 25, Netflix shared an extended first look at Mother of the Bride, which stars Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove in the leading roles. Apart from the mother-daughter duo and Murray, the film also features Benjamin Bratt, Sean Teale, Rachel Harrison, Michael McDonald, and more.

But one thing we couldn't help noticing among the latest batch of images is just how fantastic Murray looks, even all these years after playing a teenage heartthrob!

The 42-year-old barely looks aged at all in the new photos as he flaunts his chiseled and glistening physique in the beautiful setting of Thailand, where the film is set. The above photo takes me right back to his days playing the hunky love interest of Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan in the films A Cinderella Story and Freaky Friday. Some things never change.

In recent years, the star has pivoted more to television with roles on Riverdale and the Canadian drama series Sullivan's Crossing.

What is Mother of the Bride about?

Mother of the Bride is all about a woman named Emma, played by Cosgrove, who informs her mother, Lana (Shields), that she's planning to get married and her destination wedding will be held in Thailand! Her mom is onboard with it, but she's in for a big surprise when she learns that he soon-to-be son-in-law is actually the son of a man who once broke her heart several years ago.

Mixing swoonworthy romance with slapstick comedy, Mother of the Bride is shaping up to be one of our most anticipated Netflix movies of the year.

And apart from the steamy picture of Murray above, Netflix also shared additional photos that you can check out below! We get our first glimpses of the majority of the cast.

Based on the photos shared, it looks like Skins star Sean Teale is playing Emma's fiancé and son of Lana's ex-flame, who we believe is Benjamin Bratt's character Will. It's a little unclear how Murray's character Lucas will factor into the story, but perhaps he's a new love interest for Lana that will create some tension a love triangle with her ex.
