If you don't have big plans for a BBQ or some other type of gathering, you can't go wrong with a new movie or show to watch with your dad on Father's Day.
We picked five Netflix movies and shows that we thought were the perfect pick for Father's Day. Even if you're not celebrating with your dad this Father's Day, you can always start a Teleparty and watch the show or movie together from afar!
Let's get the list started with the best new movie on Netflix, Hit Man!
Hit Man
For the first recommendation, we have to share the best new Netflix movie of the summer, and that's Richard Linklater's Hit Man. Netflix movies get a little bit of a bad rap, but Hit Man is legitimately a good movie. If you and Dad haven't seen it yet, we highly recommend checking it out this Father's Day.
Hit Man tells the story of Gary Johnson, played by Glen Powell, who is a professor who finds his niche playing a fake murderer for hire in police sting operations. When Gary starts a relationship with Madison, played by Adria Arjona, after refusing her money that she wanted to use for Gary to kill her ex-husband, the pair start a relationship. Then, things get wild!
Hit Man is easily the best Netflix movie of the year so far! Check it out this weekend.
Outer Banks
A list of Netflix movies and shows to watch for Father's Day without Outer Banks? Not here! If you're looking for a story of camaraderie among friends, a missing father, and one of the worst TV fathers in history, this is the show for you and your dad to watch on Father's Day.
Outer Banks tells the story of John B, played by Chase Stokes, and the Pogues as they pick up John B.'s father's quest to find the Royal Merchant, a ship that crashed around the Outer Banks, and $400 million in gold that was on the ship. Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, Madison Bailey, and Rudy Pankow also star in the series.
Outer Banks is my favorite show on Netflix and has been for a long time. So, yeah, it gets a spot on the Father's Day list this year (and every year!). Outer Banks season 4 just finished filming and premieres later this year!
Under Paris
If you and Daddy like sharks, I have the perfect new Netflix movie for you! Under Paris is a new French movie that tells the story of a shark scientist, Sophia, played by Bérénice Bejo, who realizes that the shark who killed her husband and crew while on a job has followed her back to Paris and is living in the Seine. Sophia tries save everyone in Paris from the shark.
Under Paris is not the best movie on Netflix, nor is it the best shark movie of all time. It's still a wildly entertaining thrill ride for shark movie fans. It's great pick for Father's Day!
Cobra Kai
Cobra Kai just might be the ultimate dad show on Netflix, which makes it the perfect show to watch on Father's Day. The series is a sequel to The Karate Kid movies, and it follows Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio, decades after his karate days. He's pulled back into the karate frey when his nemesis, Johnny Lawrence, re-opens the Cobra Kai dojo and starts teaching kids karate in the valley.
I love Cobra Kai! It's the perfect amount of story, heart, and cheese to make it absolutely irresistible. There are five seasons of Cobra Kai streaming on Netflix right now. Cobra Kai season 6 premieres on Netflix on July 18, 2024, so you only have a few weeks to catch up before the final season starts.
Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is our final pick for movies on Netflix to watch for Father's Day 2024. Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Unfortunately, that first movie is not on Netflix, but you really need to watch that movie before you watch the sequel.
Across the Spider-Verse tells the story of Miles Morales / Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman as they traverse the Spider-Verse to stop the Spot, a new villain causing problems on the many Earths.
The film features incredible animation. It's truly one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen. It also has an incredible voice cast, including Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Vélez, Issa Rae, Jake Johnson, and Jason Schwartzman.
So, that's the list of the best Netflix movies and shows to watch this Father's Day! We hope you have a great time tuning in and celebrating with your family.
