Fittingly releasing ahead of the summer 2024 olympics, which will be held in Paris starting this July, Netflix is dropping a terrifying French shark attack film called Under Paris. The newly released trailer shows a massive shark devouring competitors trying to swim through the Triathlon Championships held in the Seine River.

And yes, the movie is set in the summer of 2024, making it a timely entry into the creature feature genre. These shark films can be very hit-or-miss, usually erring on the "miss" side. It's not often we get a shark attack story that can rival Jaws, or even come close to it. Even the Jaws sequel couldn't live up to the original's glory. But sometimes these movies are still a lot of fun to watch and the trailer for Under Paris looks promising.

You can watch the trailer for yourself below. Under Paris is releasing on Netflix on June 5, 2024.

As mentioned above, the story is set in Paris during the summer of 2024. A scientist discovers a massive shark is prowling the river and if they don't put a stop to the problem immediately then they're going to be looking at a PR nightmare as a bloodbath breaks out during the triathlon.

Bloody Disgusting shared the full film synopsis:

"Set in the near future, in the summer of 2024, Paris is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine for the first time. Sophia, a brilliant scientist, learns from Mika, a young environmental activist, that a large shark is swimming deep in the river. To avoid a bloodbath at the heart of the city, they have no choice but to join forces with Adil, the Seine River police commander."

Under Paris stars Academy Award-nominee Bérénice Bejo of The Artist fame as the main scientist, Sophia, and Nassim Lyes as Mika, an environmentalist who first warns Sophia about the shark. Xavier Gens (Gangs of London, Mayhem!) directs. Gens has also worked with Netflix previously on the streamer's hit series Lupin. Léa Léviant, Iñaki Lartigue, and José Antonio Pedrosa Moreno also star.
