One of Netflix’s most exciting fantasy shows is returning this year for its final season, and we just got exciting updates to share with everyone. Locke and Key season 3 is set to premiere this year, and thanks to the streamer’s event Geeked Week, we finally know the release date and more!

This year’s Geeked Week is about to be just as big as last year — if not bigger! — as we’re getting information about the biggest sci-fi and fantasy Netflix shows. We already just got updates about Warrior Nun season 2, Shadow and Bone season 2, and The Midnight Club. And just now, the panel turned to Locke and Key season 3, providing us with the best news!

Locke and Key season 3 release date

As confirmed during Geeked Week on June 6, 2022, Locke and Key season 3 will debut on Netflix on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022. Mark your calendars, because that’s just a little over two months away! It’s so interesting how Netflix is doing more and more Wednesday releases as of late.

Locke and Key season 3 cast

We can expect most of the main cast to return for Locke and Key season 3. Check out the starring actors of the show below:

  • Emilia Jones as Kinsey Locke
  • Connor Jessup as Tyler Locke
  • Jackson Robert Scott as Bode Locke
  • Darby Stanchfield as Nina Locke
  • Aaron Ashmore as Duncan Locke
  • Petrice Jones as Scot Cavendish

Additionally, we know actor Kevin Durand will reprise his role of Frederick Gideon, the first Echo who we were briefly introduced to in season 2. He’s in the teaser trailer for season 3 a ton, so expect him to be the main antagonist. The newly-released teaser also reveals that Laysla De Oliveira will be back as Dodge, though we don’t know exactly how or in what capacity. We can’t wait to see how she comes into play!

It’ll be strange to see a season of Locke and Key without Griffin Gluck, who is not expected to return as the character Gabe in season 3 after he met his fate in season 2.

Locke and Key season 3 synopsis

Season 3 will start off after the ending of season 2, which was pretty bittersweet. Though the Locke family believe they killed off the big demon after Tyler uses the Alpha Key on it, there are more dangers coming for them. At the end of season 2, Tyler decides he will not use the Memory Key in order to keep his memories of the magic as he turns 18, hoping to have a life away from the keys. He’s mourning the death of his girlfriend Jackie.

As evidenced in the season 3 teaser trailer, Tyler won’t actually lead that normal of a life as he’ll be back at Keyhouse Manor fighting off demons again. What we don’t know is whether or not he remembers everything. Gideon will be the big bad villain this season, and he seems to be the most dangerous one yet.
