Locke and Key season 3 announces final season and releases first photos

Everyone is watching Locke and Key season 2 on Netflix right now, and we all know what that means. Interest in Locke and Key season 3 is about to reach an all-time high so far.

Netflix renewed Locke and Key for season 3 in December 2020, months after the season premiered on Netflix and was later renewed for season 2.

4/6/22 UPDATE: Netflix has revealed the first look at Locke and Key season 3 and more.

So, what’s up with the Locke and Key season 3 release date? We shared everything we know about the release date and the new season of the Netflix original series.

Locke and Key season 3 release date predictions

4/6/22 UPDATE: Locke and Key season 3 will be the final season.

Netflix has not shared the exact release date for the third season yet, but you can see the note from the showrunners about ending it with season 3 right here. You’ll also be able to see some of the first official photos released from the new season!

The season started filming in the spring of 2021, about six months before the release of season 2. In fact, the cast and crew wrapped production on season 3 a few months before season 2 was released.

This is very good news. It means we could see Locke and Key season 3 on Netflix by early 2022. As we’ve mentioned before, it’s not very likely that will happen. Netflix usually has a 12-month gap or so between seasons. We obviously waited about 20 months between season 1 and season 2, and that was because of the pandemic.

Netflix also has a super full schedule for early 2022. That means that Locke and Key season 3 could be pushed back a little bit.

We’d love to see Locke and Key season 3 on Netflix in, say, February 2022, but it’s much more likely that we would have to wait at least eight months for Locke and Key season 3. That would put the season 3 release date sometime around July 2022.

If Netflix wants to keep Locke and Key as a fall show, we’ll have to wait until September or October 2022 until the season is released.

For now, expect to see the new season in late summer or fall 2022. We’ll share more updates when we find out.  We all know Locke and Key season 3 is one of the best Netflix shows coming in 2022.

Locke and Key season 3 cast

Netflix has not shared the full cast list yet, but we have a good idea who will be in the Locke and Key season 3 cast.

We shared the Locke and Key season 3 cast below:

  • Darby Stanchfield
  • Connor Jessup
  • Emilia Jones
  • Jackson Robert Scott
  • Petrice Jones
  • Aaron Ashmore
  • Asha Bromfield
  • Sherri Saum
  • Coby Bird
  • Thomas Mitchell Barnet
  • Jesse Camacho
  • Eric Graise
  • Felix Mallard
  • Liyou Abere
  • Brendan Hines

I would not be surprised to see Hallea Jones, Griffin Gluck, Genevieve Kang, or Laysla de Oliveira in Locke and Key season 3, but unfortunately, all of their characters died in Locke and Key season 2.

When is the Locke and Key season 3 trailer coming out?

We haven’t seen the Locke and Key season 3 trailer yet. Since filming has wrapped, we could see the trailer for Locke and Key season 3 at pretty much anytime.

Locke and Key season 3 trailer will likely be released a month or two before the release date of the new season.

Locke and Key season 3 synopsis

The new season will likely pick up after the events of season 2. The Locke and Key season 2 ending was super emotional for everyone. Obviously, Tyler is dealing with the death of Jackie. We know Scot is leaving for art school, and Bode is having a hard time without his mom in the loop with all the magical keys.

It looks like Tyler wants a future without magic, but we know that won’t last for long. Something is going to go wrong, and he’ll have to use the Memory Key at some point.

We also know that Captain Frederick Gideon, the first Echo, is free, and you know he’ll be coming for the Lockes. He will likely believe they are responsible for his demise, and he’ll want revenge.

If we thought Dodge/Gabe was bad, we’re in for a rude awakening.

Stay tuned for the latest updates about Locke and Key.
