The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 release month on Netflix confirmed by author

Ever since The Lincoln Lawyer released its latest season earlier this year and was renewed for a final season, we have been keeping our eyes peeled for any and all updates on season 5. The cast and crew jumped back into production this spring, and after working into the summer months, we're finally learning some exciting news about when Mickey Haller will say farewell.

Obviously, due to the annual nature of Netflix's releases of The Lincoln Lawyer so far, we weren't expecting the streamer to rush out the fifth and final season before the end of 2026. The series has never released two seasons in the same calendar year, meaning we were already anticipating a release sometime in 2027. Thanks to the book series' author, we have a better idea of when.

The Lincoln Lawyer author Michael Connelly has been promoting his latest Harry Bosch novel The Hollow, and during a promotional appearance with The Spokesman-Review, the author unexpectedly revealed the release month for season 5. As Connelly said in his interview, "There's a season that's finished for The Lincoln Lawyer. It'll come out in March." The countdown is on!

While Connelly shared that The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 will be released in March 2027, he didn't provide an exact date, but at this point, a release month will suffice. It's also worth noting that Connelly's reveal is far from an official release date announcement. Netflix will no doubt make an official announcement about season 5's release, possibly even before 2026 ends.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 wrapped filming in July 2026, with series star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo posting a heartwarming goodbye post to the series and Mickey, and given that the final season would need to complete post-production for the remainder of the year, a release sometime in 2027 was already the popular assumption and essentially confirmed.

March 2027 is the perfect time for Netflix to release The Lincoln Lawyer's final season, even though we will have to stay patient during the first two months of the new year. There's still a chance that Netflix could shift the release date, as Connelly's tease isn't set in stone until we hear it from Netflix. But no matter when the episodes drop, we're about to have a bittersweet sendoff.

Recently, Connelly also expressed his feelings about Netflix deciding to end The Lincoln Lawyer after five seasons, suggesting that he wasn't in support of that choice. It was a puzzling decision for fans to digest as well since the series has continued to main its popularity and quality after five seasons. We would have loved to see the series continue with more seasons, but the end is near.

However, we might not have to leave the show's universe completely in our rearview when we finish binge-watching season 5. Reports surfaced summer that Netflix was considering a spinoff centered on Cobie Smulders' character, who was introduced in the season 4 finale and will play a large part in season 5. We'll have to wait and see what happens after season 5 arrives next spring.
