The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 gets release window hint as filming starts

Rev up your engines because court will be back in session for Mickey Haller "before you know it," according to The Lincoln Lawyer showrunner Ted Humphrey. Netflix's hit legal drama series received an exciting update regarding the status of season 5, and it's exactly what fans have been waiting for after the thrilling fourth season dropped earlier this year.

On March 13, 2026, Humphrey shared a post on Instagram announcing the start of filming for The Lincoln Lawyer season 5. The showrunner posted a photo of the clapboard while on set for the production of the first episode. There aren't any recognizable cast members visible in the photo, but in his caption, Humphrey teased when fans can expect new episodes in his caption.

Humphrey wrote that filming is "going to fly by and land on Netflix before you know it!" According to What's on Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 currently eyes an early 2027 release window, which would bring the fan-favorite series back with new episodes about a year after season 4's release, give or take. We'll have to wait for further updates, but that's exciting news!

The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 will wrap filming in summer 2026, likely sometime in July, which would definitely put the season in the running for an early 2027 drop. If the series doesn't return exactly one year later in February 2027, then Netflix would likely opt for a release in March, but there's also the possibility that the release could be pushed into the spring depending on various factors.

Once again, the fifth season will contain 10 new episodes, but this time around, the season will be tackling Michael Connelley's novel Resurrection Walk. The direction of season 5 was teased by the season 4 cliffhanger, which featured Cobie Smulders making a cameo appearance as a character named Allison, who claims to be Mickey's sister.

Smulders will have a series regular role in The Lincoln Lawyer season 5, and given that Resurrection Walk finds Mickey teaming up with his half-brother Harry Bosch, it appears as though the series will have Allison fill in for that character (since the Netflix series doesn't have the rights to Bosch). Beyond Smulders' new role, not much else is known about the upcoming season.

The capacity in which Neve Campbell will return to the series hasn't been confirmed just yet. After a couple seasons of recurring and guest starring, Campbell returned for season 4 as a series regular. But at the end of season 4, Maggie was determined to return to San Diego with Hayley and restart their new lives away from Mickey. But how long can she resist the pull toward him?
