After watching the new live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series on Netflix, you're probably looking for something else to watch that's set in the same universe. You could always watch the sequel series The Legend of Korra, which is currently streaming on Netflix. Or, you could even check out the live-action movie adaptation The Last Airbender. But I must warn you that you'll likely be greatly disappointed by the live-action film. It was a horrible adaptation in my opinion.
Another option is to check out all the Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novels, comics, and books. There are even ATLA video games you could play on specific video game consoles. Overall, there's so much in the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise, and it's constantly expanding.
In fact, there are several animated films from Avatar Studios that are currently in the works. Out of the three confirmed upcoming animated movies, one of them has an official release date. Besides The Last Airbender, there hasn't been any other ATLA film, especially an animated version. So, this is new for the franchise.
Unfortunately, there isn't a title yet for the first-ever Avatar: The Last Airbender animated film, but we know that it will be released in theaters on Oct. 10, 2025, by Paramount Pictures. Paramount announced the theatrical release date back in November 2022. The movie is a joint production between Nickelodeon Animation, Paramount Animation, and Avatar Studios. So, no, Netflix has no involvement, and the movie will not be on its platform. Well, at least not right away. Maybe the streaming giant will be able to acquire streaming rights from Paramount somewhere down the line, but that's not happening any time soon. If anything, the animated film could eventually stream on Paramount+ after its theater release. That hasn't been confirmed, though.
Plot details about the Avatar: The Last Airbender animated film are being kept under wraps, but what has been revealed is that it will be a continuation of the original series. The movie is believed to follow the adventures of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Toph, who will all be in their late 20s to early 30s.
Lauren Montgomery, who was a storyboard artist on the ATLA animated series, signed on to direct the movie, while the original show creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko would be producing alongside Eric Coleman.
That's all we know so far about the upcoming ATLA animated movie. More information will most likely be revealed at a later date.
