The Last Airbender is a 2010 action-adventure film that was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Shyamalan is best known for writing and helming the box-office hit The Sixth Sense which starred Bruce Willis as a child psychologist.

The live-action movie is based on the first season of the animated series and follows the adventures of Aang, a young Avatar, who must master all four classical elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) so that he can save the world from the terrifying Fire Nation. Noah Ringer stars in the leading role of Aang. Dev Patel, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Shaun Toub, Aasif Mandvi, Cliff Curtis, and many others join Ringer in the cast.

While the movie didn't necessarily do horribly at the box office, it still wasn't up to par. Critics and moviegoers absolutely tore this film to shreds, with many people calling it one of the worst movies of all time. That's why there was much hesitation about a live-action series on Netflix. However, Netflix's reimagining of the hit animated series has fared well so far. Hopefully, it stays this way because it's a great show overall.
