Warning: Spoilers ahead from That '90s Show part 3.

That '90s Show part 3 premiered on Netflix on Aug. 22 and answered all of our lingering questions from the part 2 cliffhanger. Namely, how will Red and Kitty react to discovering a car crash through their kitchen during a party thrown by Leia and her friends?! Well, they aren't thrilled and there are plenty of punishments to go around. But imagine if Eric had done that in That '70s Show...

Speaking of Eric Forman, Topher Grace still didn't appear in That '90s Show to reprise his role from the original series, but the sequel sitcom does offer us an update on Leia's dad. In the penultimate episode of part 3, Donna returns to Point Place with some exciting news for Leia and the family, but this news comes with big changes for their family's living situation.

As Donna explains, lifelong Star Wars superfan Eric has received the job of a lifetime. He will be woking on Skywalker Ranch shadowing creator and director George Lucas in order to write a book about the creation of the then-upcoming new Star Wars prequel movies. Since That '90s Show part 3 takes place in 1996, The Phantom Menace was still a few years away from hitting theaters.

Eric Forman's Star Wars fandom becomes a career

That '70s Show fans know just how much he loves Star Wars... I mean, he ended up naming his only daughter after Carrie Fisher's iconic character Princess Leia Organa. The first movie in the Star Wars franchise was released in 1977, and that's exactly the time period That '70s Show takes place. Landing this dream job was truly a self-fulfilling prophecy for Eric.

Prior to working alongside George Lucas, Eric was working as a college professor in Chicago, where he taught a course on, what else, Star Wars. More so than anything else that happens in That '90s Show part 3, Eric's storyline — even though it happens for him offscreen — will be the most thrilling of the season. It's been a minute since we had an Eric update, after all! (Grace has so far only appeared in the pilot episode of the sequel series.)

Obviously, the historian gig with George Lucas will take him out of the Forman family's home in Chicago, as he will be working full-fime in California. Rather than moving the whole family across the country, Donna allows Leia to move to Point Place to go to school with her friends, and Donna will split time between Leia and Eric. With this new arrangement, we likely won't see Eric in Point Place in the near future.

Apart from Kurtwood Smith, Debra Jo Rupp, and Don Stark, Laura Prepon was the only That '70s Show main character to reprise her role in That '90s Show part 2 and 3. In fact, she even directed all eight episodes of part 3. Mila Kunis had previously confirmed that she and real-life and on-screen husband Ashton Kutcher wouldn't be returning. Grace and Valderrama haven't commented on any future appearances in the series.

Should That '90s Show be renewed for part 4 on Netflix, the sitcom will likely take place in Point Place during the school year for the first time instead of solely covering a single summer break for Leia. However, it would be so fun for the characters and fans to take a trip to California to visit Eric and catch up with him. Let's manifest both a renewal and another appearance from Topher Grace!

Watch That '90s Show only on Netflix.
