If you're a diehard fan of That '70s Show, then you're definitely not going to like the latest update about That '90s Show season 2. Sadly, we won't be catching up with a pair of cast members who made the classic sitcom iconic.

The hit sitcom's continuation series will soon be returning with new episodes in summer 2024, but the cast will be down two nostalgic members. In the first season, the entire main cast of That '70s Show (apart from one) made at least one guest appearance to usher in the new generation. This time around, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis won't be saying "Hello, Wisconsin!"

While celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Fox adult animated comedy series Family Guy at Paleyfest, Kunis spoke with Entertainment Tonight and delivered the bittersweet news. She and Kutcher previously reprised their roles as Jackie and Kelso in one episode of That '90s Show. For now, that will be the couple's only appearance in the series.

Kelso and Jackie were revealed to have gotten married since we last saw them in That '70s Show. They have a teenage son named Jay Kelso, played by Mace Coronel, who becomes a love interest for Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna's (Laura Prepon) daughter Leia (Callie Haverda). According to Kunis, she doesn't seem to see a need for them to come back just to come back.

Upon being asked if she and her real-life and on-screen husband would be making a return trip to their old haunt, Kunis said "no" almost immediately. But she offered an explanation: "No. I mean, we did our thing, and I think they introduced the son, right, like it was our son in the show."

The actress trailed off before Family Guy costar Seth Green seemingly joked he would be reprising his That '70s Show character on the sequel series. (For those who might not remember, Green played Eric's school frenemy Mitch Miller for five episodes. A casting announcement hasn't been formally made for Green as of this writing, but you never know.)

For fans of the original series, hearing that Kelso and Jackie won't be popping up again in season 2 will obviously be disappointing. That '90s Show might have been hit or miss for a lot of people, but I think we can all agree that seeing our old friends again was a definite high point for the semi-revival. Surely (hopefully!), other original characters will be back in Point Place for season 2 to serve up some of the nostalgia we'll be missing in Kelso and Jackie's absence.
