If you like documentaries and documentary series, July is the perfect month for you! Netflix is set to released more than a dozen new documentaries this month, along with six new documentary series.

With the 2024 Summer Olympics coming up at the end of the month, there are a few sports documentary series to watch, along with a new series following some of the top receivers in the National Football League (NFL). Of course, Netflix also has its fair share of crime docuseries coming in July, too. Those have become a staple for the streamer every month.

Let's get the list started with a new docuseries about the fastest people in the world!

Sprint: The World's Fastest Humans

Release date: July 2

Sprint: The World's Fastest Humans is now streaming on Netflix. The behind-the-scenes look at the world's fastest sprinters follows as they train, qualify, and prepare to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson, of the United States, Elaine Thompson, Shericka Jackson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica, Zharnel Hughes of England, and Lamont Marcell Jacobs of Italy are featured in the docuseries.

If you wanted to see all the work and prepration these amazing athletes do to make sure their bodies are ready to compete for a gold medal, this is the series for you!

Receiver

Release date: July 10

Let's keep the sports doc train moving down the tracks in July! Netflix is set to release Receiver, an all-new series that follows some of the best and highest-paid receivers in the NFL. You'll remember Netflix did a similar show, Quarterback, that followed three NFL quarterbacks during the season. Well, this is basically that.

Receiver stars Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Deebo Samuel, and Davante Adams. The series, which consists of eight episodes, follows these five receivers through the 2023 NFL season. Luckily, two of these receivers even made it to the Super Bowl.

Travis Kelce, one of the best players in the NFL, turned down the opportunity to star in Receiver, according to KC Kingdom.

Homicide: Los Angeles

Release date: July 16

If you're a fan of true crime documentaries, we have the documentary series for you to watch in July. Homicide: Los Angeles premieres on July 16. It's the second season of the series from Dick Wolf, following the release of Homicide: New York.

As you can see in the trailer, Homicide Los Angeles follows some of the most famous murders in the city's history. It also features interviews with the investigators, detectives, and lawyers associated with the cases.

Simone Biles Rising

Release date: July 17

Simone Biles fans! This is the new documentary series for you! Simone Biles Rising premieres on July 17, right before Biles heads to Paris to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The documentary series follows Biles, one of the best and most decorated gymnasts of all time, throughout her life in gymnastics and all the trials and tribulations Biles has faced in her career, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where Biles was forced to withdraw from several events.

Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam

Release date: July 24

If a pop music scandal is more to your taste, Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam is the new Netflix documentary series for you. The new series hits Netflix on July 24.

Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam follows the life and career of Lou Pearlman, the music producer who helped assemble the most popular boy bands and pop musicians of the 1990s and 2000s, including *NSYNC, Britney Spears, O-Town, The Backstreet Boys, and more. While the musicians achieved epic levels of fame and fortune, there was a lot more unsavory things going on behind the scenes involving Pearlman.

Unsolved Mysteries: Volume 4

Release date: July 31

Unsolved Mysteries is back for its fourth season on Netflix at the end of July. The fourth volume premieres on July 31. As with the previous three volumes, each episode opens up an unexplained mystery or crime and interviews those involved.

We don't know much about the fourth season yet. We don't have an episode count or any hints about what stories will be told in the series, but we'll let you know as soon as we do!
