It's OFFICIALLY the first weekend of summer! Whether you have been in summer mode since May or you have been waiting for the calendar to make the season change official, we're here now and there's plenty of Netflix new releases ready to add to your watch list in order to beat the heat.

This weekend's new release slate is a little lighter than recent weeks, as if Netflix knows most people will start spending their weekends doing outdoor activities. But the streamer offers a few new and classic titles this weekend that are just the ticket to keep you cool for a movie night or an evening binge-watch.

From a new action movie to two fan-favorite series, here's what to watch on Netflix this weekend, beginning below with Jessica Alba's new movie Trigger Warning.

Trigger Warning

What goes better with a summer day than an action movie? It's the perfect season for larger-than-life thrillers and popcorn movies with explosions and fight sequences and all the drama.

Jessica Alba gets back to her action hero roots in Trigger Warning, which centers on a Special Forces commando coming back to her hometown to discover the truth at the center of her father's death.

The movie also stars Anthony Michael Hall, Tone Bell, Mark Webber, Jake Weary, and The Night Agent star Gabriel Basso. Don't miss the exciting new action flick this weekend!

Suits

Sure, Suits isn't new to Netflix. Last summer, the USA Network legal drama landed on Netflix and absolutely exploded in a way that we haven't seen in a minute. The Netflix bump Suits received was unlike any Netflix bump maybe in history. It was massive and led to the series getting a new spinoff series fast-tracked.

However, Netflix didn't have the complete series back then. In July, the ninth and final season will finally drop on Netflix, making now the perfect time to sneak in one last binge-watch of the series to be ready to watch the final chapter.

Dexter

On June 19, Netflix re-added all eight seasons of Dexter. The fan-favorite series first aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013 and once called Netflix its streaming home.

The Emmy Award-winning show found success and a wider audience on the platform, but after coming back for a revival miniseries, the series returns in time to get fans excited for the forthcoming prequel series Dexter: Original Sin.

Spend the weekend making a dent in binge-watching all 96 episodes of the original Dexter series and reliving every killer moment!

Fifty Shades of Grey

This week also saw the release of the 2015 erotic romance-drama film Fifty Shades of Grey on Netflix, and the hit movie shot straight to the top half of the top 10 most popular movies.

The adaptation of E.L. James' viral book stars Dakota Johnson, who's had quite the year on Netflix thanks to Madame Web, and Jamie Dornan, who's also had a big year on Netflix with The Tourist.

Next month, both sequels will arrive on Netflix, so revisit the first entry in the blockbuster trilogy before you can enjoy a full three-movie marathon in July.
