Warning: MAJOR spoilers ahead from Emily in Paris season 4 part 1.

Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 answered so many of our burning questions about our favorite characters and their relationships, but the first five episodes of the rom-com's most highly anticipated season yet left us with even more.

Obviously, last season revealed Camille's pregnancy bombshell, which threw a wrench in Emily and Gabriel's potential plans of getting together after both of their relationships blew up. It's not easily earned, but eventually the pair make it work amid various struggles in season 4 part 1.

By the midseason finale, Camille discovers that she isn't pregnant and never was; she'd received a false positive pregnancy test. When she sees how relieved Gabriel has become now that he's free of the Michelin star pressures and how happy he is with Emily, she pretends to still be pregnant.

Emily in Paris creator Darren Star chatted with The Hollywood Reporter and teased the upcoming ramifications of Camille's new secret yet to unravel in part 2:

"It will play out, and I think it’s something that, like the character herself, is very shocking. I think she’s put in a situation of feeling like she certainly never meant to deceive anybody, and she’s pretty devastated about it. So it does play out in a way that affects everybody’s relationship in part two."

Everybody's relationship?! Quickly define "everybody," Darren!

Camille better not break up Emily and Gabriel

In some respects, I understand where Camille was coming from by opting not to tell Gabriel the truth about the pregnancy in that moment. She wanted to spare his feelings while he was having a celebration and chose not to deflate his spirit. However, it's one thing to withhold the truth about the pregnancy. It's completely different thing to pretend to still be pregnant.

I would imagine that unlike his surprisingly calm reaction to finding out he wouldn't be receiving a Michelin star, Gabriel won't be responding in the same manner to Camille's news when it comes out. That's a real matter of trust. As Star mentioned, Camille's going through this devastation, too, and didn't know how to navigate the situation. It's a shame she made a choice that would further everyone's pain.

Since Emily and Gabriel are still in the early period of their romantic relationship, even having a solid foundation of friendship for quite some time now, this twist will clearly impact their fragile honeymoond period. It's a lot to take on as a new couple, and Emily has already had to grin and bear some less than ideal situations in order to be with the man she loves. Could thing upcoming shock be something that send them over the edge?

Knowing how this show, and all romantic comedies, operate, you can never be too settled with a couple. Once Emily and Gabriel got together by episode 3 of season 4's total of 10 episodes, there was some cause for concern. Sure, in episode 5 they say "I love you," but there's always that fear that it's too good to be true, which Emily openly worries about as well.

Elsewhere in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Star addressed the "unexpected obstacles" the new couple will face in part 2 now that the "fantasy" has ended:

"The course of love never goes smoothly. I think there’ll be unexpected obstacles. But more than that, I think as they really get to know each other, they see each other less as fantasies. The infatuation period is over, and it’s about being more realistic about who they are. Like any relationship, you have your romantic fantasy period, and then you have reality. So, I think that’s the process they’re going through. It doesn’t mean that they’re gonna fall out of love. But they have to sort of confront the realities of who they really are."

Naturally, like any relationship, it's not all going to be smooth sailing. And this is television! Emily and Gabriel need some real life speed bumps to test their love and make sure they're in it for the long haul (which I know they are!!!) and not just for the starry-eyed fantasy.

Emily in Paris season 4 part 2 will catch up with the couple in a good place, but according to Star, it's going to get a bit rocky in their world before long. Emily still has her Roman holiday coming up when part 2 drops on Sept. 12, and Lily Collins has teased another "geometry lesson" with a mystery man in Italy. Buckle up for another bumpy ride in Emily's ever complicated life!
