Warning: MAJOR Spoilers ahead from Emily in Paris season 4 part 1.

After an almost two-year wait, Emily in Paris season 4 has arrived with its first batch of episodes on Thursday, Aug. 15. The hit Netflix original romantic comedy series has quite the long list of questions to answer from the state of Emily's relationships with both Alfie and Gabriel, Gabriel's status with Camille, and oh, yeah, just that little plot twist about Camille's pregnancy.

As the trailer for season 4 part 1 teased, Emily's still caught in between her feelings for Alfie and Gabriel, though she's open to the idea of being single and letting in new possibilities. But after watching the first five episodes of season 4, one of those new possibilities happens to be making a big romantic decision in the complicated love triangle.

Not only does Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 offer clarity in the Emily-Alfie-Gabriel-Camille situation, but there's two bombshell secrets set to shake up the characters' worlds. Who does Emily choose? What happens with Gabriel's Michelin star? And how far along is Camille's pregnancy? The answers might be surprising, so let's dig into all the spoilery goods!

Yes, Emily chooses Gabriel over Alfie

Condolences to the shippers holding onto hope, faith, and a prayer that Emily and Alfie would reconcile and get back together in season 4 part 1. While the pair does patch things up and get back on good terms, Emily ultimately chooses Gabriel over Alfie at the masquerade party. Alfie had previously confessed his feelings for her, but her own feelings for the handsome French chef outweighed any chance of a second chance with the British businessman.

In the fifth and final episode of season 4 part 1, Gabriel tells Emily he loves her and Emily reciprocates his "I love you" right back. It's been a long time coming for these two, and those words do not come lightly! This is a huge development for the characters and the series. Obviously, the roadblocks aren't over for the in-love couple, but they are at long last stable, committed, and so damn adorable.

Lucien Laviscount isn't credited as a main cast member for season 4, and Alfie only appears in two of season 4 part 1's five episodes. However, he's sure to return for at least one (or potentially more) episodes in part 2. He and Emily still have a bit of unfinished business and need some closure. Perhaps part 2 will be the last we'll see of Alfie, since it's unimaginable that he and Emily could ever get back together after this (and it's unclear why anyone would want them to).

Gabriel doesn't get his star

Unfortunately, Gabriel does not earn a Michelin star. But it wasn't for lack of trying or a reflection of his own skill as a chef. Luc's girlfriend Marianne had been posing as a Michelin inspector to impress Luc, but she no longer worked as one and had no clout to be able to secure a star for Gabriel. It's a crushing blow to Gabriel considering he had been jumping through hoops to earn the career achievement, even hiring an annoyingly particular pastry chef he could not stand.

When Emily delivers the news to Gabriel in the season 4 midseason finale, he first metabolizes the news and she braces for whichever reaction he might have — anger, sadness, frustration, etc. After firing the pastry chef and kicking him out (in a scene that can only be described as hot), the release of pressure makes Gabriel feel free. All things considered, he's happy to no longer have that hanging over his head. After all, he has his loving girlfriend Emily and a baby on the way. Well, about that...

Camille isn't actually pregnant (and never was)

Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 almost had us fooled that Camille and Gabriel were actually going to become parents. As soon as the twist was introduced in season 3, the other shoe was just waiting in the wings to drop, and it does. When Camille goes to the doctor, she learns that she's not pregnant and never was. She received a false positive pregnancy test and hadn't been to the doctor to confirm the pregnancy. It's another devastating turn of events for Camille.

Earlier in the season, Camille went "missing" after the wedding that didn't happen, but later returns to Paris when Emily finds her and argues with her in a pond. (It's a whole thing.) Camille begins her relationship with Sofia while living with Gabriel. The couple then moves into the apartment next door, causing tension for Emily and Gabriel's relationship as well as her own relationship with Sofia. Buckling under the pressure, Sofia breaks up with Camille and returns home to Greece.

So, when Camille discovers that she isn't becoming a mother with Gabriel and she's not in a relationship with Sofia, she's at another crossroads. She's prepared to share the unfortunate news about the pregnancy with Gabriel, but when she sees how excited he is to be in love with Emily, relieved of the Michelin star mess, and a father-to-be, she pretends to still be pregnant. He's doing to find out the truth in part 2, and it might come at the final cost of his trust in Camille.

Watch Emily in Paris only on Netflix. Season 4 part 4 premieres Thursday, Sept. 12.
