9 best anime coming to Netflix in fall 2024 that you absolutely must watch

We can't believe we're already nine months into 2024. The year is almost over, and we've seen a bunch of great content released on Netflix. The good news is that there is still so much more left to come out.

This fall, Netflix will be dropping many new anime titles on its platform. If you're curious about what those anime shows and movies are, all you need to do is continue reading to find out!

Note: Some of the titles listed below aren't exactly anime. Instead, they're American anime-influenced shows and movies. That's why we decided to include them.

Grave of the Fireflies

Netflix release date: Sept. 16, 2024

Grave of the Fireflies is a 1988 Japanese animated film based on the 1967 semi-autobiographical short story of the same name by Akiyuki Nosaka. It's considered by many to be one of the greatest war films of all time and has been applauded for its beautiful animation and compelling storytelling. It tells of the struggles of two orphans fighting for survival in post-World War II Japan. This is definitely a movie that'll pull on the heartstrings, so be prepared.

Twilight of the Gods

Netflix release date: Sept. 19, 2024

Twilight of the Gods is one of the anime-influenced shows that was mentioned earlier. It's an animated fantasy series created by Zack Snyder, Eric Carrasco, and Jay Oliva. In addition, it's based on Norse mythology. The story follows a mortal king, his warrior bride-to-be, and their crew of warriors as they embark on a revenge mission against Thor and his soldiers.

Blue Box

Netflix release date: Oct. 3, 2024

Blue Box is a heartfelt romantic anime series based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Kouji Miura. It follows the life of Taiki Inomata, a teen boy and member of his high school's badminton team. He harbors a secret crush on Chinatsu Kano, a popular upper-class student who plays on the girls' basketball team. However, Taiki admires her from afar.

That's until one spring day when Chinatsu ends up living with Taiki and his family due to unforeseen circumstances. With Chinatsu now living with him, Taiki sees this as the perfect opportunity to get closer to her and hopefully develop more than a friendship.

Ranma1/2

Netflix release date: Oct. 5, 2024

Ranma1/2 is a brand new anime series adaptation of the manga series of the same name by Rumiko Takahashi. It follows the adventures of teen boy and martial arts prodigy Ranma Saotome, who tries his best to navigate teenage life, romance, and the curse he's under. A curse that magically transforms him into a girl when splashed with cold water and back to a boy upon touching hot water.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

Netflix release date: Oct. 10, 2024

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is another anime-influenced show coming out this fall. It's an animated action-adventure series that's based on the popular Tomb Raider video game series by Crystal Dynamics. Taking place after the events of the 2018 game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we continue to follow adventurer Lara Croft as she embarks on an adventure around the world to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths.
