Fresh off the success of the two-part Rebel Moon series, Zack Snyder has a new Netflix series in the works. Twilight of the Gods is coming to the streaming service later this summer.
Netflix just announced that Twilight of the Gods premieres on Sept. 19, 2024. We also have the first look at the new series from Snyder. Netflix shared the release date announcement along with a few clips of the new series on YouTube. It's not a full-length trailer, but that should be released soon.
Twilight of the Gods is a story based on Norse Mythology, and it's been in the works at Netflix for a while. Netflix also shared the official synopsis, via press release:
" In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds and great despair, LEIF, a mortal King, is saved on the battlefield by SIGRID, an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love. On their wedding night, SIGRID and LEIF survive a wrath of terror from THOR, which sets them - and a crew of crusaders - on an against all odds and merciless mission for vengeance. This heroic story of love, loss and revenge, is a journey to Hell and beyond… across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against Gods and demons."
Twilight of the Gods has a great voice cast! Netflix fans will definitely recognize a few of the voices. In the series, Sylvia Hoeks voices Sigrid, alongside Stuart Martin, who voices Leif, and Pilou Asbæk, who voices Thor.
Here's the full cast of Twilight of the Gods:
- Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid
- Stuart Martin as Leif
- Pilou Asbæk as Thor

- Jamie Clayton as Seid-Kona

In the past, I have not been a huge fan of Netflix's animated slate of original content. It's not them; it's definitely me! But, I will certainly be tuning in for Twilight of the Gods! I'm a sucker for Norse mythology. My only hope (and maybe it's a fear at this point) is that it's not going to be done right.
I like Zack Snyder, although I did not particularly enjoy Rebel Moon, nor am I all that excited about a six-hour director's cut of that movie. I am intrigued by what Snyder has up his sleeve with Twilight of the Gods. So many of his projects are inspired by Norse mythology, so it's great that he's taking a shot at it for Netflix!
We still don't know the episode count for the series, but we'll find out soon.
We'll share more news about Twilight of the Gods as we find out! Watch the new series when it premieres on Netflix on Sept. 19.
