Nobody Wants This renewed for season 2, coming in 2025

It's a big week for Netflix news! Just days after we got updates on the futures of Kaos and The Night Agent, we come bearing good news as not just one but two original series have been renewed today! New romantic comedy Nobody Wants This will return for a second season, while fan-favorite political drama The Diplomat will have a third season. These renewals were announced during the Bloomberg Screentime Conference on Oct. 10. This news is not entirely surprising considering the glowing reviews, but you never know in the streaming landscape.

Nobody Wants This premiered on Thursday, Sept. 26 and it's remained towards the top of Netflix's Top 10 list ever since. With a fantastic cast and addicting script, this was a no-brainer for fans to love. I binged it all in one sitting, something I haven't done in a while!

Nobody Wants This to return with new showrunners

In a press release sent out this afternoon, Netflix confirmed Nobody Wants This season 2 will premiere sometime in 2025, which is great news. The show, created by Erin Foster, is undergoing a change with the renewal, as Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan will step in as executive producers and showrunners. Nora Silver will also serve as an executive producer.

Though the second season has not started filming yet so we do not have any new footage to watch, Netflix did share a sweet renewal video to get us excited:

In a statement to Netflix, Foster shared of the renewal:

"Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers' reactions to this series now that it's out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I've been such a fan of since Girls... Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!"

The 10-episode first season of Nobody Wants This follows a podcaster named Joanne (Kristen Bell) who meets and falls for a rabbi named Noah (Adam Brody). Despite coming from different backgrounds and having different religious beliefs, the two can't manage to stay away from each other. Against all odds, they try to make it work, but with external factors like family and friends getting in the way, plus Noah's demanding job, it's no easy feat.

Nobody Wants This debuted in the number 2 spot on Netflix, reaching 10.3 million views in its first four days, as reported by Variety. For the week of Sept. 30, the comedic series reached the number 1 spot, bringing in an additional 15.9 million views. Love is Blind season 7 has since dethroned Nobody Wants This, though, at the time of this writing, it's still high up the list in the number 2 spot.

Clearly, everybody wants this heartfelt rom-com! We are so happy it's returning for another season.
