The Night Agent season 2 releases in early 2025 (and season 3 is official!)
By Reed Gaudens
Netflix's most valuable FBI agent officially has his marching orders for his followup mission. On Oct. 8, Netflix made the announcement everyone has been waiting for: The Night Agent season 2 will be released in winter 2025. We still don't have an official month, but we know it will be sometime right in the beginning of the new year!
That's not the only good news Netflix shared about The Night Agent. Wasting no time at all, the streaming already renewed the hit series for season 3, which begins production in Istanbul before the end of 2024 with additional filming in New York City in 2025. The upcoming season will also have 10 episodes and could very well be released before the end of 2025.
The Night Agent season 3 renewed ahead of season 2 premiere
Following the wrap of production on season 2 this summer, The Night Agent season 3 reportedly opened a writer's room in July to get the ball rolling on a potential new season. Thankfully, now that the season has been officially been picked up, the cast and crew can hit the ground running with production as soon as possible.
Ahead of the second season's premiere, Basso and Buchanan were confirmed to return and a number of new main and recurring cast members had already been locked in. Amanda Warren Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander join season 2's regular lineup in key roles. The recurring cast also gains Brittany Snow as Peter's new partner Alice, Teddy Sears, Navid Negahban, and Rob Heaps.
The action thriller series from S.W.A.T. creator Shawn Ryan first premiered on Netflix back in March 2023, which result in the show blowing up and becoming an overnight success. Five days after its premiere, Netflix renewed The Night Agent for a second season and confirmed a 2024 release. In spite of the dual strikes, the series was still able to return this year.
When we last left Peter at the end of season 1, he saved the day and got the girl before taking off for his first mission as an actual Night Agent after receiving a promotion from President Travers (Kari Matchett). The first season found him unraveling a conspiracy that weaved its way deeply throughout the White House and tested who he was able to trust. Oh, Diane Farr, we thought we could trust you!
The Night Agent season 2 wrapped filming in June ahead of the show's confirmed release later on in the year. Wisely, Netflix is primed to stay in business with The Night Agent, for much longer, possibly even beyond season 3, especially with Ryan's new overall deal with the streamer. It all begins with season 2, hitting Netflix in winter 2025.
