3 highly anticipated Netflix shows delayed until 2027

Netflix shows that fans were hoping to return with new shows in 2026 have since been pushed into 2027. These are the three shows that have had confirmed delays.

As much as well all want our favorite shows to be back with new seasons as soon as humanly possible, the streaming era of television unfortunately doesn't abide by the same rules as Burger King. We can't always have it our way, and sometimes we just have to be patient for some of Netflix's best shows to return with new seasons. We should be used to this by now.

Even though we will be missing a few shows that were targeted for release before the end of 2026, there are still quite a few exciting titles set for their arrival ahead of the year's end. Emily in Paris says farewell with its final season on Christmas Eve and The Diplomat season 4 brings the political drama this fall. There's plenty of great titles where these came from and lots more to look forward to in 2027.

Beyond the Netflix shows that are naturally coming in 2027 due to their release cadence, like Virgin River season 8, The Night Agent season 4, and The Lincoln Lawyer season 5, the new year will be joined be at least three fan-favorite hits that have now been officially pushed from a release in 2026 and delayed until 2027. Sadly, these three Netflix shows aren't coming back this year.

Ginny & Georgia season 4

Despite fans hoping that we finally wouldn't have to wait two years in between new seasons, Ginny & Georgia season 4 won't be releasing in 2026. Netflix quietly confirmed the delay this summer while sharing a list of the streaming service's upcoming slate of young adult programming.

There wasn't a reason provided for the streamer's decision to delay the release of the comedy-drama series' fourth season into the following year. It's even more curious that Ginny & Georgia isn't returning in 2026 because filming wrapped way back in March.

Naturally, fans would have expected to be watching the latest exploits of Ginny and Georgia, especially with the shocking ending of season 3, by the end of 2026. But for some reason, we will now be waiting until sometime in early 2027. Well, hopefully early 2027.

The Witcher season 5

Another fan-favorite Netflix original series that was pushed from 2026 to 2027, The Witcher season 5 probably has a better excuse for its delay than the aforementioned series. Earlier this summer, the fantasy drama's delay was confirmed, though no official reason was provided again.

However, unlike Ginny & Georgia, The Witcher utilizes the extensive use of special effects to bring its storytelling to life. It's a much larger production in scale and scope as a fantasy series and post-production takes time, as fans have known since its premiere in 2019.

Additionally, The Witcher season 5 is also confirmed to be the final season of the series. Because of this fact, there's no real reason to rush the release. No matter what, the fifth season will be a big deal, and it's better to make it the best it can be rather than making an arbitrary deadline.

A Man on the Inside season 3

Because comedies take much less time than dramas to produce, they are rarely delayed for release unless something out of the show's control provents production from beginning in time. Well, that happens to be the case with Ted Danson's comedy A Man on the Inside.

After being renewed for a second season, A Man on the Inside had an annual release, returning within one year of its premiere. That's not happening with season 3. The series received a late renewal for its third season and creator Michael Schur was busy with another series for most of 2026.

Schur was filming Amy Poehler's new Peacock comedy Dig, which pushed production on A Man on the Inside season 3 until fall 2026, when the show would usually be dropping its new season. Being so, Charles Nieuwendyk won't be back with his next mystery until sometime in mid-2027.
