Just when you think her work must be done in Paris, Emily Cooper returns with another round of personal and professional ups and downs! A little over two weeks after the premiere of the romantic comedy series' fifth season, Netflix announced the renewal of Emily in Paris season 6.

While we previously not-so-secretly expressed our hope that Emily in Paris season 6 would be the final season of the Netflix hit (for no other reason besides ending with a bang!), Netflix's renewal made no mention of the sixth season being the last hurrah for our girl. However, the streamer did mention that the series remains a fave, raking in 26.8M views globally in under two weeks.

Without even considering the numbers, the season 6 renewal doesn't come as a surprise since the season 5 finale ended with a number of cliffhangers, including Mindy's complicated love triangle post-engagement and Gabriel's latest pursuit of Emily's heart. Whether it's the last season or not, Emily in Paris season 6 will have to answer the show's most important question...

Emily in Paris season 6 renewed on Netflix

And what is that question? Of course, it's whether Emily and Gabriel end up together. This time around, Emily ends the season single. She breaks up with Marcello after she discovers that he wasn't intending to propose to her, but he was hoping she would join him in Italy full time. Emily realizes that they want different things, and she returns to Paris and a scrappy new era for Agence Grateau. But Gabriel sends her an invite to join him on summer holiday in Greece.

Emily in Paris season 6 doesn't need to be the final season all things considered, but the series does need to start getting serious about stabilizing Emily and Gabriel's relationship. It's been very obvious that that's the endgame goal the writers have had in mind, and they have successfully brought that goal back around and worth rooting for by the end of season 5. To put it plainly, we can't keep going back and forth with them. There's only so much will-they-or-won't-they we can take.

Hopefully, Mindy's relationship love triangle between her fiancé Nico and her crush Alfie will pull focus from Emily's messy love life. Emily deserves to have a season without complicated romance woes, but who knows what the future will hold for her. Maybe Jake (Bryan Greenberg) will return to shake things up, but then again, she didn't really seem too hung up on her fellow American in Paris.

As of the renewal announcement on Jan. 5, Netflix hasn't revealed any casting changes for season 6, though much of the main cast is expected to return as series regulars. Eugenio Franceschini and Thalia Besson aren't expected to return in a major capacity, but we should be seeing much more of Minnie Driver as Princess Jane since she's joined the Agence Grateau team.

Additionally, Netflix hasn't shared when Emily in Paris season 6 will premiere, but based on past production cycles, it's expected that the new season could drop by December 2026. That's merely a prediction and depends on filming beginning by this spring. Hopefully, we'll see cameras rolling in Paris (and possibly Greece!) before summer kicks off for a release at the end of the year.
