You simply can't beat the Bellarie family! When it comes to drama, they have at least that figured out—but when it comes to their rest of their business, well, that's a work in progress. The premiere of Beauty in Black season 3 on Netflix has proven to been the most successful release of the Tyler Perry series yet, and this is the fifth total "part" the streaming service has dropped.

On Aug. 27, Netflix released Beauty in Black season 3 alongside the second season of original sitcom Leanne and the true crime documentary series Death of the Pastor's Wife. All through found success in their own ways, but the docuseries won the week at No. 1 on the Global Top 10 English TV Shows ranking with 19 million views between Aug. 24-30. Perry's drama wasn't too far behind.

Beauty in Black season 3 makes series viewership history

Within its first four days of availability, Beauty in Black season 3 made history for the series by achieving the show's highest peak on the Global Top 10 and scoring the show's largest debut viewership. The series' third series premiered in the No. 2 position with 13 million views and 81.4 million hours viewed. Clearly, fans were loving this installment of the Bellarie family feud.

Earlier this year, Beauty in Black season 2 part 2 released on March 17, and during that batch of eight episodes' first four days of release, the series debuted at No. 3 on the Global Top 10 with 5.3 million views and 73.9 million hours viewed. The first part of season 2 debuted in the same position in September 2025 with 8.7 million views and 60 million hours viewed.

Going back to the first season's two-part release, part 1 debuted at No. 4 in October 2024 with 5.6 million views and part 2 arrived at No. 6 in March 2025 with 3.8 million views. Beauty in Black has been relatively up and down but stable with its viewership, but with the third season, the series has skyrocketed to its largest viewership total yet, and the first full week hasn't even been counted.

It's especially an achievement since Beauty in Black season 3 was supposed to be the final season of the series. When the Netflix renewed the third season, the streaming service announced its as the last batch of episodes, but ahead of its release, the streamer reversed that decision and renewed season 4. Obviously, that was a very wise choice looking at the huge ratings numbers.

While these might not be viewership numbers comparable to the likes of Stranger Things or even Harlan Coben's summer smash limited series I Will Find You, they are incredibly impressive for a series technically in its fifth season (it's season 3 but the fifth part overall) and a mid-budget drama. It's a major win that should be celebrated by the cast, crew, and fans.

Thankfully, there's still plenty of story left to tell with this characters, especially since the season 3 finale left multiple lives hanging in the balance. These cliffhangers will takes us all the way to the Beauty in Black season 4 release next year, and hopefully there will be additional seasons to come in the future. Keep watching and check back for more season 4 updates!
