Since its debut on Netflix back in October 2024, Tyler Perry's drama series Beauty in Black has been a fan-favorite destination for the soapiest twists and turns on the streaming service. With each new season, the series simply gets more and more addictive, and while we were under the impression that the upcoming third season would be our last hurrah with the show, that's no longer the case.
When the second part of Beauty in Black season 2 dropped in March 2026, Netflix had already announced the the series was renewed for a third and final season. The new season is expected to be released on Netflix in 2027, per Perry's most update on the release window, but we no longer have to anticipate a bittersweet goodbye as Netflix as officially reversed the final season decision.
Beauty in Black isn't ending with season 3, renewed for season 4
On July 23, Netflix surprised fans with the exciting news that Beauty in Black season 4 is happening. Tyler Perry, Taylor Polidore Williams, and Crystle Stewart appeared in a video shared across social media making the thrilling renewal announcement for fans. Curiously, there's no direct mention about the final season reversal or whether season 4 will now serve as the final season.

According to Perry's statement in Netflix's press release, it doesn't sound like there are plans to end Beauty in Black with season 4, as the creator stated the "story is far from finished."
Perry said in his statement, "Beauty in Black is back for season 4 and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished. There was so much more I wanted to explore and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
It's a rare cancellation reversal from Netflix, something that doesn't happen often if at all with the streamer's original series. In fact, the streamer has announced final seasons of a small batch of more hit series, like Emily in Paris, The Night Agent, and The Lincoln Lawyer, all which will end with their upcoming final seasons. Beauty in Black was part of that list until right now.
A reason for the Beauty in Black season 4 renewal and Netflix changing its mind wasn't provided, whether the decision came from the streamer itself or Perry. In fact, it's also unknown whether the initial final season decision was a creative one that originated with Perry or whether Netflix wanted to wrap things up. Either way, both sides are aligned on continuing to explore the Bellarie drama.
Perry's creative partnership with Netflix continues with the upcoming film Why Did I Get Married Again? releasing on Sept. 9 and the forthcoming firefighter drama series Where There's Smoke. It's a natural progression to keep Beauty in Black on the air while launching another new series from Perry. Not to mention, it's a show that fans rush to watch whenever new episodes drop.
As for what to expect in Beauty in Black season 3, Netflix shared the synopsis: "Kimmie finally has a seat at the Bellarie table, but when a deadly family feud erupts, she's forced into an uneasy alliance with Mallory. Together, they navigate a ruthless world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets as the family wages war against one of its own, threatening to bring the entire empire crashing down."
Netflix hasn't revealed release dates or release windows for either Beauty in Black season 3 or season 4, but stay tuned for more news and updates as they're announced!
