4 things I need to see in Emily in Paris season 6, now that filming is done

We often see canceled Netflix shows that feel like they have more story to tell, but sometimes a show lasts so long you’re shocked it’s managed to keep going with new stories. For me, that’s always been Emily in Paris.

What began as a series about an American who travels to Paris for work has become a show that has traveled to several European countries and shown that life is more than croissants on French riverside walkways. Emily (Lily Collins) has been all over the place, and now that filming for season 6 is finished, there are a few things I need to see happen in this final installment to be fully satisfied with its ending.

Let Emily and Gabriel get together — or don’t

I need some resolution on this, please. I can’t do another full season of these two going back and forth and being a “will they or won’t they” situation. It’s tiring.

It’s annoying that, for a time, it felt like we finally got it, but then it was over within a couple of episodes in season 4, and not that long after, Emily was off in Rome with someone else. Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) was honestly my favorite among all of the love interests Emily has had, but I’m tired of her always going back and forth.

Either be with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) or don’t. Pick him or move on and find someone new. I almost feel bad for everyone involved because it feels like they’re always dancing around each other, and it’s driving me absolutely up the wall.

A firm return to Paris

While it is nice to see Emily explore Europe and see other countries, I must say that I am tired of her, well, not being in Paris.

Look, I love Italy. I traveled to Italy with my fiancé, and we fell in love with that country. I loved seeing her explore and see all the sights I did. But at the same time, the series is called Emily in Paris, and it feels like it has drifted far from the actual location we were promised at the beginning.

We know Emily also loves Paris, and she’s grown into her role there and has even learned French (in certain ways). She’s seriously grown so much as a person, and I think it’s a crime to suddenly push her into different countries in different circumstances when we really only wanted to see how she would react in one culture.

Now, she’s in Greece, another country I absolutely love, as we saw from filming. But again, I really don’t want to see her in Greece for the whole season. Maybe a couple episodes, max. The real story is in Paris. I want to see her be a boss and take on the world of marketing once more, not go on vacation and swim in blue seas for eight episodes.

Some story progression for Sylvie

In season 4, it felt like we really dug deeper into Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) and her background, but in season 5, we stopped. We focused more on her business and her relationships, but we didn’t really get much story with her, so we favored other characters.

I would love to dig a little deeper into her in the final season and see where she stands in the future. We know she’s fully leaving her relationship with Laurent, so that’s a major character shift, but I really want to know how she will not only save her business but also her name in season 6. We know Princess Jane has become an equity partner with Agence Grateau to help save her business, but that could have heavy implications.

We also know Sylvie is on Gabriel’s side, since she told him Emily was single when she and Marcello split up. Will we see her actively playing matchmaker? I’m curious.

Alfie and Mindy figuring out what the heck they want

The biggest surprise for me in Emily in Paris was when Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Mindy (Ashley Park) became a thing. Or rather, a fling. They were messing around for a bit. But then Mindy got back together with her ex; he proposed, and the finale was a whole mess.

However, when Alfie found out about the proposal, he was upset, and Mindy realized she actually had feelings for him. And I can’t do this back-and-forth stuff anymore. She’s been going between her ex and Alfie for basically a whole season, and now we’ll be looking more into that in season 6.

If anything, I think this relationship will become a huge story in season 6. I don’t think they’ll resolve their issues right away. But as long as we get something from them, that’s all I really need.
