It's officially the end of an era, and it's one we have been dreading finally arriving. While we knew the day would be coming with the countdown to the Emily in Paris season 6 release on Christmas Eve already in place, but nothing could have prepared us for Lily Collins and Netflix announcing that filming had reached its end and Emily would be hanging up her iconic phone forever.
On Friday, Sept. 18, both Collins and the streaming service shared a photo of the actress sitting on a director's chair on set, which featured the word "fin" on its back. Netflix's caption simply stated, "Au revoir. That's an official wrap on Emily in Paris," but Collins wrote a lengthy tribute to the series, its fans, and her character that will have you misty eyed before even watching an episode.
Emily in Paris season 6 wraps filming ahead of December release
"My last day on set as Emily…," Collins began her tribute to Emily in Paris. "t’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me. For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me."
Collins went on to thank creator Darren Star for bringing her character and the series to life, as well as the crew, writers, directors, and her fellow cast members, who she called "family." She saved a special "merci to all of you," meaning the fans watching at home," who have been supporting the series through thick, thin, and all of Emily's romantic and professional ups and downs.
She saved her most emotional messaging for last, ending her caption with more gratitude for putting joy out into the world: "I will carry this chapter with me forever. Saying goodbye feels completely surreal and bittersweet, but mostly, I feel so incredibly proud and grateful that I got to be her. And be part of something so joyful. This has forever changed me. Au revoir, Emily Cooper…"

The official conclusion of the Emily in Paris season 6 production process might seem a little bit close to the Christmas Eve 2026 release date, but when filming began in May, the conclusion being in September had always been known. Thankfully, Netflix confirmed that the final season would be released this year and wouldn't be pushed to 2027, ensuring one last Christmas with Emily.
From filming ending in mid-September to the release being set for late-December might seem like a quick turnaround for a Netflix series, and sure, it's incredibly unheard of, but the Emily in Paris team is more than up for the task of getting the final 10 episodes to fans as soon as possible. After all, we have some questions left to be answered about Emily's future with Gabriel and beyond.
In the Emily in Paris season 5 finale, Gabriel invited Emily to join him in Greece, and it's an invitation she has been confirmed to accept given filming began in Greece. But what becomes of her endgame remains to be seen. Not to mention, Mindy's romantic future, torn between Nico and Alfie, is also up in the air. We're only a few months away from finding out how their stories all come to an end.
Emily in Paris season 6 releases on Thursday, Dec, 24 only on Netflix.
