The world can’t get enough of Barbie right now, so it’s an appropriate time for the doll’s manufacturing company, Mattel, to continue producing new projects! The latest one is Barbie: A Touch of Magic. What’s it all about?

The Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, has officially become the highest-grossing film of 2023 domestically as of Aug. 24, 2023. The Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-led production is quickly catching up to the Super Mario Bros. worldwide record, grossing $1.35 billion globally. Barbie is currently at $1.3 billion.

With the franchise’s massive success, there’s also increased interest in the multiple animated shows and movies in the universe. Here’s everything we know about the new series ahead of its release!

Barbie: A Touch of Magic release date

Get ready for the new animated series to debut this fall! Barbie: A Touch of Magic will begin streaming on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, on Netflix in the U.S. Those in the U.K. can watch the show on Pop; SuperRTL in Germany; Cartoonito & Boing in Italy; and Minimax in Easter Europe.

How many episodes are in Barbie: A Touch of Magic?

Barbie: A Touch of Magic will be a total of 13 episodes. Each one will run for 22 minutes. Most likely, all 13 will be available to stream on premiere day.

Barbie: A Touch of Magic synopsis

Get ready to see the titular character in two forms, with a little bit of magic sprinkled in! We will see Barbie Roberts from Malibu and Barbie Roberts from Brooklyn work together and go on an adventure. As the two are “enjoying life by the beach,” they find a “mysterious baby horse,” per the synopsis. The duo soon finds out that the little horse is Peggy, a baby Pegasus sent to the Florida city “on a mysterious mission.”

The Barbies will team up with their friends and family to keep Peggy safe from Rocki, a magical being with a “mystical agenda.” Will they be able to protect the baby horse? During their adventure, the two Barbies will also make new friends and discover that their world is filled with magic and fantasy.

Where to watch the Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie

Unfortunately, the new Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling that’s been a complete hit is not streaming on Netflix. As of Aug. 24, 2023, the film is still playing exclusively in theaters. However, it’s set to come to streaming in fall 2023 on Max.
