5 good Netflix shows this New Year’s Eve weekend: Treason and Emily in Paris

The new year is almost upon us, and this weekend Netflix shows have much to offer. Now is a great time to check out The Witcher: Blood Origin, The Recruit, Emily in Paris, and more.

This week’s top 10 list is ripe with great series to keep you entertained throughout the weekend. Tim Burton’s Wednesday is still holding strong in the number one spot, followed by Emily in Paris, Treason, Blood Origin, Harry & Meghan, I Am a Killer, and Firefly Lane.

Best Netflix shows to watch this weekend (Dec. 31, 2022)

The new year will be bringing many more great new releases, but these are the best to check out this New Year’s Eve weekend.

Treason

The new British spy drama Treason is newly released on Netflix. Charlie Cox portrays Adam Lawrence, an M16 agent who sees his hopes for promotion dashed when his boss is poisoned and his association with a Russian spy comes to light.

With his career set, Adam is encouraged about a bright future, but as always, the past catches up with him. This puts him, his wife, and Kara, the Russian spy, in a triangular relationship where each one is looking out for themselves while trying to expose the secrets of the others.

Emily in Paris season 3

Emily in Paris has released its third season and picked up where the second season left off with that shocking cliffhanger. Finding herself at a crossroads both personally and professionally, Emily’s misadventures continue.

Chicago Party Aunt part 2

Part 2 of the adult animated series Chicago Party Aunt is now available to stream. Based on creator Chris Witaske’s same-named Twitter page, the series follows  Diane Dunbrowski, a.k.a. The Chicago Party Aunt, whose mantra is, “If life gives you lemons, turn that shit into Mike’s Hard Lemonade.” Voice actors for the series include Lauren Ash, Rory O’Malley, RuPaul Charles, Jill Talley, Ike Barinholtz, Jon Barinholtz, and Bob Odenkirk.

Alice in Borderland season 2

The latest season of the Japanese series Alice in Borderland is based on the manga by Haro Aso. Allies are trapped in the abandoned city of Tokyo and must complete dangerous games to avoid being executed. Playing cards determine the difficulty of their chosen games, and visas are extended that, upon expiration, will result in their deaths.

Ginny & Georgia season 1

On Jan. 5, Netflix will release the second season of Ginny & Georgia, making this weekend the opportune time to watch or rewatch season 1. It has almost been two years since season 1 released, so fans are more than ready to see more of the series.

Ginny & Georgia follows Ginny, a 15 year old who is more mature than her 30-something mother Georgia. They, along with Ginny’s brother Austin, move to New England as Georgia tries to give her children a better life that what she had.
