If there’s one Netflix original series we can’t get enough, it’s definitely Outer Banks. Ever since season 2 debuted in summer 2021, we have been anxiously awaiting any and all news about Outer Banks season 3.

The teen adventure-mystery series has become one of the most popular shows and was without question among the best Netflix shows of the year.

Before we can catch up with the Pogues in Poguelandia, we need to know some important details about OBX season 3, like the renewal status, filming estimates, main cast members, and release date predictions. Here’s what the fans need to know about season 3 right now.

Is Outer Banks season 3 renewed?

Yes! On Dec. 7, the Outer Banks cast announced that Netflix renewed Outer Banks for season 3. The renewal announcement came nearly six months after the second season premiered on Netflix in July, which caused lots of undue concern from fans.

Is Outer Banks season 3 filming?

As of the season 3 renewal in December 2021, OBX season 3 hasn’t started filming and isn’t expected to start filming until sometime in 2022. We’ll keep fans up to date on all things Pogue as more information about the upcoming season is announced.

Who is in Outer Banks season 3?

The entire main cast will be back for Outer Banks season 3, and the cast will have a new series regular that we came to know and love in season 2. Check out the full cast below.

When is the Outer Banks season 3 release date?

Netflix hasn’t yet announced the Outer Banks season 3 release date, so we don’t know exactly when season 3 of OBX will come out. Since the first two seasons were released in April and July respectively, fans have come to expect a spring or summer release.

The release date timeframe will depend on when production gets underway. Rumors have stated a January 2022 start date could be on the table, but either way, the cast and crew will be hard at work filming the new episodes for about six to seven months, plus a couple months for post-production.

For now, let’s expect Outer Banks season 3 to come out in late August or September 2022. It’s a longer wait than we would have liked, but we know season 3 will just be bigger and better and well worth that wait. Of course, that’s a prediction and the release date could be sooner or later than our current projections.
