When does season 3 of OBX come out on Netflix?

Outer Banks was renewed on Tuesday, Dec. 7. The announcement came with the news that we’ll be returning to Poguelandia come OBX season 3. As such we’re most likely going to be dropped back with the Pogues in the immediate aftermath of having been stranded on an island.

Spoilers ahead of Outer Banks season 2

The Netflix original‘s second season ended with the Pogues coming up short on two separate treasures much to their disappointment. However, they did escape with their lives and John B. and Sarah were reunited, so they’re counting it as a win.

Cleo, the young ship hand and smuggler we met earlier in season 2, was also along for the ride and she’s now officially a Pogue. Carlacia Grant, the actress who plays Cleo, has been bumped up to a series regular which means we’ll be seeing plenty of her character in the third season.

But when will we see OBX season 3 land on Netflix? Here’s what we know!

When is OBX season 3 coming to Netflix?

The renewal of Outer Banks is quite recent, so there’s been no word on when filming could begin on the third season. We do know that it’s not likely to begin until 2022. Whether or not the show makes a summer release window will depend on when filming starts.

If production gets underway early next year then we could see OBX season 3 premiere by late August or in September. The series began in the summer and season 2 opened with the character’s starting the new school year.

A third season debut as school is starting in the states would be a nice little nod to the real life back-to-school timeframe of the show’s target demographic.
