How many seasons of Virgin River are on Netflix?
As of May 2022, there are currently three seasons of Virgin River available to stream on Netflix. You can watch all three seasons right now. Season 3 premiered on Netflix on July 9, 2021.
Will there be a Virgin River season 4?
Yes! Before season 3 even premiered, we knew Virgin River season 4 was happening. Production even started before Netflix confirmed the season was happening. In September 2021, Netflix revealed Virgin River season 4 and season 5 were officially in the works. So, there you have it: Virgin River season 4 is confirmed.
Virgin River season 4 release date
On May 10, What’s on Netflix reported that Virgin River season 4 will be released on July 20, 2022, and the following day, series star Annette O’Toole confirmed the news on Twitter. Netflix is keeping the romantic drama put in the summertime, and we’re not complaining!
Hollywood North reported the cast and crew of Virgin River season 4 started filming in August 2021. With production beginning so soon after season 3 was released, this was expected to reduce the gap between seasons. However, fans of the series still ended up having to wait a full year in between season 3 and season 4.
As we previously reported, star Alexandra Breckenridge announced she had wrapped filming in Dec. 2021. On Jan. 19, 2022, Martin Henderson took to Instagram to share he was still working on season 4, noting he was getting it “good and ready for consumption.”
Assuming season 5 follows a similar release pattern as season 4, we’re expecting to see Virgin River season 5 on Netflix sometime in the summer of 2022. But since the next season starts filming in July, we could possibly see it premiere in early 2023.
Virgin River season 4 cast
When Virgin River returns, we will see the usual suspects come back. Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Colin Lawrence, Lauren Hammersley, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Grayson Gurnsey and Sarah Dugdale will all reprise their roles.
Annette O’Toole, who had a limited role in season 3 because of the pandemic, will be back in season 4. Kai Bradbury and Mark Ghanimé will also star in season 4.
Of course, season 4 will continue to welcome the new faces we met in season 3 with some even potentially being promoted to series regulars. As usual, the new episodes will inevitably introduce new characters into the fold to shake things up in the quaint small town.

"Despite not knowing whether her baby belongs to her deceased husband, Mark or Jack, Mel begins Season Four with a sense of optimism. For years she yearned to be a mother and her dream is one step closer to reality. While Jack is supportive and excited, the question of paternity continues to gnaw at him. Complicating matters is the arrival of a handsome new doctor, who’s in the market to start a family of his own. Hope is still healing from her car accident, and the lingering psychological effects of her brain injury will have profound consequences for both her and Doc. Brie, intent on proving the innocence of the man she loves, unexpectedly finds herself in a closer relationship with Mike and one step closer to Calvin’s violent criminal web. Even as Preacher forges a new romantic connection, he can’t help but hold out hope for being reunited with Christopher and Paige."
Season 4 will also resolve open-ended conflicts, such as Hope’s fate following her near-fatal accident and what’s next for Brady after taking the fall for Jack’s shooting. Also, with Preacher drugged and kidnapped, Christopher and Connie look to be in danger. The stakes are higher than ever, and we’re looking forward to more answers.
