As much as we all love Outer Banks, that doesn’t mean we love all of the characters equally. In fact, we love to hate many of the Pogues’ foes, and Outer Banks season 2 gave us plenty more reasons to remain enemies with a certain someone by the name of Rafe.

Warning: Spoilers from Outer Banks ahead!

Going into Outer Banks season 2, it’s no secret that choices Rafe made in the first season continue to shape the story moving forward, especially as it pertains to John B. As long as Rafe sticks by his father’s side, he’ll continue to act as the direct foil for the Pogues.

Of course, Rafe killed Sheriff Peterkin last season, and the finger was immediately pointed in John B’s direction. Whether Rafe ultimately gets charged for Peterkin’s murder is one of the biggest questions hovering over Outer Banks season 2.

Does Rafe get arrested in Outer Banks season 2?

Here’s the short answer, friends: Nope! Rafe doesn’t get caught, arrested, charged or even publicly shamed for murdering Sheriff Peterkin. The eldest Cameron sibling gets away with murder — literally (and figuratively, too, actually) — in season 2.

Ward makes sure to place the blame fully on John B, even though he knows it’s not the truth. Not to mention, Sarah was an eyewitness to her brother’s killing of the sheriff, but since Ward has the police department in his back pocket, it’s his word against hers.

Even though John B does end up behind bars for the crime, our guy winds up exonerated because the clock runs out on Ward. That’s right, Rafe’s dad confesses to the crime, but he doesn’t accept the time. Instead, he blows himself up on the My Druthers… or does he?

Ultimately, Rafe continues to do heinous things, like shooting his sister and leaving an ailing woman alone on the ground without helping her, and getting away with them. He’s by far the most irredeemable villain on Outer Banks. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, huh?

Do you think karma will come back to bite Rafe? What’s next for Rafe in the possible Outer Banks season 3? Will he continue to cross his sister and the Pogues every chance he gets? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments!
