Outer Banks returned to Netflix with its highly anticipated second season on July 30 and came ready to answer all of our burning questions. But of course, Outer Banks season 2 also arrived with plenty of new questions ready to blow our minds, including the fates of our faves.

When we last left the Pogues in the shocking season 1 finale, John B and Sarah were presumed dead after sailing into a storm. But the unstoppable duo were saved by a boat heading to the Bahamas, the precise location Ward flew the coveted treasure.

Outer Banks season 2 put their lives on the line once again as the stakes grew higher and higher for John B and Sarah while on the run. Between facing off with local authorities to facing their enemies back at home, does John B end up on the wrong side of sticky situation?

If you’re wondering whether John B didn’t make it out of Outer Banks season 2 alive, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s what you need to know about the Pogue leader, and be warned… Spoilers ahead!

Is John B dead in Outer Banks season 2?

As revealed by teases ahead of the new season’s release, the Pogues discover that John B and Sarah did not die when their boat capsized in the storm. Of course, that’s not exactly a spoiler since we knew John B and Sarah weren’t killed in that severely close call.

But that doesn’t mean the close calls didn’t keep coming for John B and Sarah in season 2. Every moment of their time on the run in the Bahamas was a life-or-death matter, as supposed allies turned on them for a payout and local authorities tracked their every move.

Does John B survive the gator attack?

Fortunately, John B and Sarah make it back to the Outer Banks alive and in one piece (though Sarah very nearly died from a gunshot by, who else, brother-of-the-year Rafe). John B ends up arrested for Sheriff Peterkin’s murder, again almost getting killed in jail.

Ward planned the attack on John B to continue to (poorly) cover his tracks, but our guy ended up having his name cleared and the charges dropped. Once again, John B bounces back with nine lives. However, while tracking down the Cross of Santo Domingo, he tangles with an alligator.

Although the alligator wrestles him underwater for a harrowing amount of time, John B makes it out of the attack with a seemingly minor gash on his leg. In order to avoid bleeding out, John B sacrifices his prized bandana that belonged to his father. Now there’s a metaphor.

There you have it: John B remains very much alive, even after more run-ins with danger in the high-octane Outer Banks season 2 finale.
