The Netflix documentary Operation Varsity Blues which offers an eye-opening look into the infamous college admissions bribery scandal from 2019, has officially dropped its first trailer.

Getting into college is no easy ordeal unless you come from a wealthy family. The college admissions bribery scandal from 2019 saw Full House and Hallmark actress Lori Loughlin and Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman in the news for all the wrong reasons as it had been revealed that they were among many people involved in the controversy covered in Operation Varsity Blues.

Ever since Variety broke the news that Netflix was releasing Operation Varsity Blues in March 2021, subscribers have been very eager to get the first glimpse of what’s in store when the doc arrives, and now the first preview has officially arrived.

Everyone remembers the scandal that shocked everyone across the country that involved a man named Rick Singer, the mastermind behind an entire “side-door” system allowing rich and privileged individuals to get their kids into their dream colleges through fraudulent means for the right price.

We shared the trailer for Operation Varsity Blues trailer below.

This nefarious ordeal involved an elaborate set-up involving falsifying sports credentials, cheating on tests, and so much more to give those with all the advantages and privileges an easy way into a college enrollment they did not earn and more than likely were not qualified to get.

All of this is covered in a riveting documentary film that uses real FBI wiretaps to motivate the reenactment lead by Stranger Things actor Mathew Modine as Singer. The entire must-watch affair is directed by Chris Smith, who did an exceptional job with his last doc, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, and served as Executive Producer on the very popular Tiger King series.

Here is the official synopsis for Operation Varsity Blues:

"Everything you’ve heard is true. But you haven’t heard everything. Using real conversations recreated from FBI wiretaps, the filmmaker behind Fyre brings you Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal An examination that goes beyond the celebrity-driven headlines and dives into the methods used by Rick Singer, the man at the center of the shocking 2019 college admissions scandal, to persuade his wealthy clients to cheat an educational system already designed to benefit the privileged. Using an innovative combination of interviews and narrative recreations of the FBI’s wiretapped conversations between Singer and his clients, Operation Varsity Blues offers a rare glimpse into the enigmatic figure behind a scheme that exposed the lengths wealthy families would go to for admission into elite colleges, and angered a nation already grappling with the effects of widespread inequality."

Operation Varsity Blues arrives on Netflix on March 17, 2021.
