7. Jimmy

Jimmy (Tony O’Dell) is Johnny’s other Cobra Kai buddy who comes back in the series. He didn’t have a lot of lines in the movie. He was the second Cobra Kai opponent Daniel faced (and then defeated) at the All Valley tournament in 1984.

8. Kumiko

Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) is Daniel’s love interest in The Karate Kid Part II. Her aunt is Yukie, who was Mr. Miyagi’s first love. Yukie and Miyagi reunite when Mr. Miyagi returns to Japan after his father dies. Daniel goes with him and that’s how he meets Kumiko.

When Daniel heads to Japan in season 3, fate sees fit to have Daniel’s and Kumiko’s paths cross again, with many fortuitous consequences.

9. Chozen

Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) was Daniel’s adversary in The Karate Kid Part II. Like Kumiko, and thanks to her, Daniel also reunites with him in season 3. Not only do Daniel and Chozen reconcile their differences from the past, they realize they’re “cousins” in a way because their karate teachers learned from the same master. Chozen even teaches Daniel a couple of new karate principles and moves.

10. Ali

At the end of season 2, Johnny tossed his phone on the beach and walked away. The camera zooms in to an incoming notification: Ali Mills-Schwarber has sent Johnny a friend request on Facebook.

Besides wondering if Miguel would survive the fall, that was season 2’s other big cliffhanger, leaving everyone to wonder: will Johnny and Ali reconnect?

They did!

Elisabeth Shue reprised her role as Ali in season 3. She had been mentioned in other seasons, but she was one of The Karate Kid characters fans most wanted to see on the series. Thank you, Ms. Shue, for making that happen!

Will there be more reunions with past Karate Kid characters in Cobra Kai season 4? Guess we’ll find out…

For now, we can stream all three seasons of Cobra Kai as much as we want on Netflix. Or am I the only one watching the episodes over and over? (Just like I did with The Karate Kid movie.)
