If there was one thing Karate Kids fans were hoping for, it was that Ali Mills would return to the Valley. Did it happen in Cobra Kai season 3?

Fans were treated to the hint that Ali would return in the season 2 finale. As Johnny threw his phone away, Ali sent him a Facebook friend request. He didn’t see it until the midpoint of season 3, which is when he got to see her photos and continue messaging her.

However, it was only in episode nine that Ali finally returned. And it wasn’t just for a fun cameo.

Like with the return of Kumiko and Chozen earlier in the season when Daniel returned to Okinawa, Ali’s return was there to help Daniel and Johnny move on.

Ali reveals she’s separated from her husband

The first season of Cobra Kai saw Daniel tell Johnny all about Ali’s husband. There were a few comments about the surname Schwarber, but Daniel revealed that she was happy with him.

It turns out that wasn’t the case. In Cobra Kai season 3, episode nine, Ali tells Johnny that she and her husband have separated and have filed for divorce.

Does it open the door for Ali and Johnny to get back together? Ali later learns that Johnny is dating Miguel’s mother, Carmen, and she makes him happy. Ali isn’t getting in the way of that.

Ali helps to end the rivalry on Cobra Kai season 3

During a cocktail party, Daniel comes across Ali. Ali has also invited Johnny along, so it’s time for the three of them to catch up, talk about old times, and finally put all that water back under the bridge.

Ali brings up the fact that Johnny and Danny haven’t moved on, and that’s probably because they see too much of themselves in each other. Sure, they have completely opposite styles of karate, but they are more alike than they’d like to imagine.

Ali’s appearance is simply to get the two men to stop sparring with each other. She returns to make them form a partnership, which ends up with the two combining their dojos to take on Kreese.

There’s more of that partnership to come in Cobra Kai season 4? Is there more Ali, though? That remains to be seen.
