Cobra Kai season 4 probably won’t be the final season

Looks like the Cobra Kai will continue after season 4

Ready to take a quick ride on the good news, bad news rollercoaster, Cobra Kai fans? You might have already seen the good news that season 4 is happening. The bad news is that eventually, like all shows must, the series will come to an end.

But, we’re back to some good news. SlashFilm reported that the Cobra Kai series finale won’t happen in season 4, if executive producer Josh Heald gets his way.

Heald, along with co-executive producers and co-showrunners Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, were interviewed by TV Line. Here’s what he said when they asked if they had thought about where the series would go after season 4:

"We have an endgame in our heads. We’ve had one for quite some time, and it’s not in Season 4. It’s well beyond that. In our minds, we have seasons’ worth of story that is necessary to tell before we get to that endgame. That will be a discussion going forward with our new partners at Netflix. Can we write to that endgame? Can we know that it’s coming? That’s not always the case with television and we respect that. For now, we’re continuing to write at the same speed and with the same path that we set out with from the beginning."

Okay, so we understand an end will come. We’d prefer it to be one that’s planned, however. Abrupt endings are hard to handle.

Our apprehension about Cobra Kai’s future is understandable, too. We saw a plethora of canceled Netflix shows in 2020. Among the shocking casualties were at least 15 good Netflix shows, such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The Society.

Don’t worry, though, Netflix renewed a bunch of shows, too. Netflix has a big say in Cobra Kai‘s future from here on out. For now, we can rejoice that they’ve greenlit season 4 and hope that it’s just as good as all of the other seasons have been.

Right now, it looks like Cobra Kai season 5 is all but inevitable, though. Cobra Kai season 3 is still ranked no. 1 on Netflix. As long as people are watching Cobra Kai and there’s more story to tell, then Netflix should keep renewing this series. We just heard there’s more to the story, so all that’s left is for viewers to watch the series.

Cobra Kai season 4 will likely be released on Netflix in late 2021 or early 2022.
