There are so many good Netflix shows to watch in December 2023! Netflix just dropped new episodes of Virgin River, the Christmas specials, on Nov. 30. My Life with the Walter Boys hits Netflix on Dec. 7, followed by The Crown’s final episodes on Dec. 14. Berlin, the Money Heist spinoff, is also coming to Netflix on Dec. 29.

We know how hard it is to find a new Netflix show to watch. Sure, Netflix does a good job of sharing which new shows are popular, but how do you know if you’re going to like it? Well, that’s where we come in. Our team of editors at Netflix Life reviewed Netflix’s library and watched thousands of hours of TV shows to find the very best Netflix shows. We’ve put them together in a list for you to find something new to watch on Netflix tonight.

We’re updating this list of the best Netflix shows weekly to make sure you don’t miss a new show that you should be watching. The latest update was on Dec. 2, 2023. FanSided Entertainment Staff Bryce Olin, Natalie Zamora, Reed Gaudens, and Mads Lennon contributed to this list.

Let’s get the list of the best Netflix shows started with the best shows of all time, The Crown!

The Crown

  • Seasons: 6
  • Created by Peter Morgan
  • Cast: Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, Eileen Atkins, Jeremy Northam
Victoria Hamilton, Ben Miles, Greg Wise, Jared Harris, John Lithgow, Alex Jennings, Lia Williams, Anton Lesser, Matthew Goode, Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Daniels, Jason Watkins, Marion Bailey, Erin Doherty, Charles Dance, Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Stephen Boxer, Emerald Fennell, Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Dominic West, and Elizabeth Debicki

The Crown is one of the best and most expensive Netflix shows of all time. The series follows the life of Queen of Elizabeth II beginning just before her coronation through modern times. There are six seasons of the series on Netflix right now, and the final half of season 6 is coming on Dec. 14. The show is ending after the sixth season. Each of those seasons covers about a decade of the Queen’s reign. The series won’t catch all the way up to the 2020s, though. It’s going to end around the 2010s, most likely.

If you’re looking for an acting masterclass, The Crown is the show for you. These performances from Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, Imelda Staunton, and others are truly extraordinary. Foy starred as the Queen for the first two seasons, while Colman starred in season 3 and 4 followed by Staunton in season 5 and season 6.

When it’s all over in a few weeks, The Crown is going to be recognized as one of Netflix’s best achievements to date. Sure, it might not be as popular as Stranger Things, Wednesday, Bridgerton, or some of the other Netflix shows, but it’s quality is relatively unmatched.
