Safe (2012) cast: Who’s in the action thriller film on Netflix?

Meg 2: The Trench starring Jason Statham is now out, and after watching the sequel film, you’ll probably find yourself wanting to watch more of Statham’s movies. Luckily, Netflix carries several of his films, including the action thriller Safe.

Safe is a 2012 movie that was written and directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakin is best known for co-writing the screenplays for the action films The Rookie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and The Harder They Fall.

The action flick was released in theaters in April 2012 and ultimately grossed $40.6 million worldwide. Although it received mixed reviews from critics, we still recommend checking it out for yourself if you haven’t watched it yet. Sometimes critic reviews aren’t always accurate. Who knows, you might end up liking it.

The story follows a down-on-their-luck former cage fighter, who after rescuing a young math wiz, finds himself having to protect them from the Russian mafia, Triad gangs, and corrupt NYPD officers who are after them. But who stars in the action film besides Statham? Find out below.

Jason Statham portrays the protagonist in the movie, Luke Wright. Luke is a former NYC cop and cage fighter who involves himself in a deadly high-stakes war when he rescues an abducted 12-year-old girl. Statham is known for his action movies. However, he’s best known for starring as Frank Martin in three of the Transporter films. You might also recognize him from his roles in the movies The Italian Job, Crank, The Bank Job, Spy, The Expendables franchise and the Fast & Furious franchise.

Catherine Chan plays the role of Mei, the gifted 12-year-old girl that Luke saves. Besides starring in Safe, Chan appeared in two episodes of the popular dark comedy series Weeds as a character named China.
