Will Jughead be in season 5 of Riverdale?

Calling all Riverdale fans! We’re here to talk about the upcoming fifth season. People have loved the series since it first premiered in 2017 and fans can’t wait to see what happens to Betty, Veronica, Archie, Jughead, Cheryl, and the rest of the beloved characters come next season.

Is Jughead in Riverdale season 5?

As reported by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the fourth season of Riverdale did not conclude as intended. Production on the series came to an abrupt halt because of the coronavirus pandemic, so the season 4 finale was really meant to be a mid-season episode.

Fans will recall that the last few episodes of season 4 saw the Riverdale crew dealing with a murderous videotape stalker, who will return in season 5. However, after that story is wrapped up, Riverdale will be taking a seven-year time jump.

Cole Sprouse will in fact be returning to play Jughead Jones in season 5 of Riverdale, but Bughead fans might not be too pleased with his relationship status after the time jump. Apparently, Jughead is going to have a new girlfriend next season!

According to Project Casting, the official call sheet for the show’s fifth season says that his new girlfriend is named Jessica. Here is how Jessica is described on the casting sheet:

"A train-wreck-y hipster, Jessica is Jughead’s live-in girlfriend. Jessica makes no secret of the fact that she’s done with their relationship since she can see that she’s not as important to him as the book he’s not writing."

I love it when shows jump forward in time, so I think it will be really interesting to see how the Riverdale gang matures after high school. We will just have to see what happens to Jughead and his new girlfriend in season 5! Filming for the highly-anticipated new season has begun.
