Stranger Things season 4 might not resume production next month

Stranger Things season 4 was scheduled to restart filming in September 2020. Unfortunately, things are not looking so good now.

According to AP Entertainment, Maya Hawke, who stars as Robin Buckley in Stranger Things, said things were lining up for the series to restart production in September. Now, it’s unclear if production will resume next month or not.

In the interview, Hawke said, “We’ll see” when asked if production was going to start soon.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news that Stranger Things season 4 was starting production again on Sept. 17. That was back in July.

With the spread of the coronavirus in Georgia, where Stranger Things is filmed, it might not be safe for the cast and crew to get back to work next month.

Stranger Things season 4 had been filming for about one month before production was shutdown in March. According to Finn Wolfhard, they were actually ahead of schedule on the new season. Production was supposed to wrap in August for an expected early 2021 release date. Obviously, it’s August now, and Stranger Things season 4 has not finished filming – or even restarted filming – and that means we’re not going to see the new season in early 2021.

If Stranger Things season 4 restarts production soon, we will likely see the new season in late 2021, like fall or right before the holidays.

If season 4 doesn’t start filming soon, we might have to wait until early 2022 before season 4 is released on Netflix.

This should come as no surprise for fans of the series and those monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the United States and Georgia. For filming to restart, there has to be safeguards in place for the cast and crew, and all those measures must be approved by the various unions involved.

It’s likely that those discussions are taking place now, and then a determination will be made about restarting production for the series. We know the series is looking for season 4 extras, which means they are gearing up to resume production.

Obviously, we’re hopeful that Stranger Things season 4 starts filming soon. I don’t know if there is anyone more excited to see Stranger Things season 4 than we (Netflix Life) are. Most importantly, though, the cast and crew need to be kept safe and healthy, and if it’s not safe to start filming, it’s not safe to start filming. It should be that simple. We’ll keep waiting patiently!

Even if production doesn’t start in September, there’s a good chance it will start soon.
