WarnerMedia has officially named its upcoming streaming service HBO Max and will be the home for Friends and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

After HBO Go and HBO Now, WarnerMedia’s new streaming service, HBO Max, is the latest addition to streaming service to compete with Netflix, according to a report from Variety.

HBO Max will launch in 2020, according to the report.

HBO Max is subsequently more important and much bigger than HBO Go and HBO Now, as it will be WarnerMedia and AT&T’s answer to Netflix and will rival all the other giants of the kingdom with its delicious offering. And, it’s going to have a lot of big shows and movies.

Here is the summary of what the streaming service will be, via Variety:

"“Anchored with and inspired by the legacy of HBO’s excellence and award-winning storytelling, the new service will be ‘Maximized’ with an extensive collection of exclusive original programming (Max Originals) and the best-of-the-best from WarnerMedia’s enormous portfolio of beloved brands and libraries,” Warner Media wrote in a press release yesterday."

The streaming service is expected to have more original content from HBO, along with more TV shows and on-demand movies. HBO already has deals with some of the top studios, including FOX, Warner Bros., and more. Those movies will be headed to HBO Max, along with the Warner Bros. TV shows, although not all of them.

More from TV

If all you have been watching on Netflix is Friends and The Office all over again, then here’s more bad news for you. WarnerMedia’s HBO Max will have streaming rights to every episode of Friends when the streaming service launches in spring 2020. The show is set to leave Netflix at the end of the year, according to the report.

Variety is reporting WarnerMedia has paid a whopping $425 million for five years of streaming rights. Earlier this year, Netflix also paid a reported $100 million to keep the show for one more year.

The streaming service also has similar deals for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Pretty Little Liars. All of the episodes of these two shows will be on HBO Max, according to the report, but that’s not all.

Variety is reporting HBO Max will also feature a string of future CW Shows starting with Batwoman and Katy Keene, a Riverdale spinoff.

Variety is also reporting shows and movies from these studios will be on HBO Max:

"“Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes, and more.”"

That’s a lot of content! This is, of course, bad news for Netflix, which has a lot of content that will be leaving and moving to HBO Max soon. We’ll be sure to let you know more when we find out! Stay tuned for more information.
