Young Sheldon cast and character ages: How old are the actors in real life?

On television, it’s rather rare for an actor to play their exact age, especially when it comes to young characters. For years, we have watched adults well into their 20s (and even 30s!) play teenagers to various degrees of convincing. But it’s probably comforting to know that all of the young characters in the Young Sheldon cast are played by actors who are the same age.

The CBS sitcom, which premiered in 2017 and ends its successful seven-season run in 2024, will find a secondary streaming home on Netflix in November 2023. Just in time for the holidays, the streaming service gives fans of The Big Bang Theory universe a special present in the form of the funny, charming, and very binge-able Sheldon Cooper origin story.

Young Sheldon takes place in the late 1980s and early 1990s as the titular child genius character comes of age in Texas. His family, friends, and community have trouble relating to and understanding his immense intelligence and unique social practices. It’s a must-watch addition to the Big Bang world for fans of the original hit, but it’s also a great standalone series.

When Young Sheldon premiered in September 2017, Armitage was nine years old, the same age as Sheldon in the first season. When the series comes to an end in May 2024, Armitage will be a couple months away from his 16th birthday. In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon was played by Emmy Award-winner Jim Parsons, who narrates the prequel series.

Montana Jordan age as Georgie Cooper

Montana Jordan was born on March 8, 2003, making the Georgie Cooper actor 20 years old as of November 2023. When the series first premiered in September 2017, Jordan was 14 years old. Even though he’s the older brother of Sheldon and Missy, Georgie attends his freshman year of high school with Sheldon in the first season. In the sixth season, Georgie is 18 years old. When the series comes to an end in May 2024, Montana will be 21 years old. In The Big Bang Theory, Jerry O’Connell appeared as Georgie Cooper.

Raegan Revord age as Missy Cooper

Raegan Revord was born on January 8, 2003, making the Missy Cooper actress 15 years old as of November 2023 and the same age as both her character and on-screen twin brother Iain Armitage. When the series premiered in September 2017, she was also nine years old, though when the series ends in May 2023, she will have turned 16 years old before Armitage. In The Big Bang Theory, Courtney Henggeler appeared as Missy.
