Dead to Me renewed for season 2 at Netflix

Dark Comedy series Dead to Me renewed for season 2 on Netflix in an announcement during the series FYSee panel in Los Angeles.

Dead to Me season 2 is officially happening at Netflix! The streaming network renewed the hit series for season 2 during a FYSee panel, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The popular Netflix original dark comedy starring Christina Applegate and Lisa Cardellini was created by 2 Broke Girls creator Liz Feldman and centers around the two women’s budding friendship and bonding over grief.

We theorized when the show came out that we would see a renewal for the show due to the positive reactions to the show. The series has high ratings and after the season 1 premiere on Netflix, it became the no. 1 show in the UK.

Rotten Tomatoes review site has the series at a strong 87% critics rating with the audience score being an incredible 95%. Those are unbelievably strong numbers for a new show and is evidence that both critics and audiences alike have been drawn into the series.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch the series, I suggest you binge it as soon as possible. The story-lines are hilarious, the characters are memorable and the plot is unique.

In early May, showrunner Liz Feldman wrote an article for Glamour magazine on why she created it and how her 40th birthday set it all in motion. She talks about how her struggles with fertility and aging sparked the idea for the series. It is clear watching the show that it reflects life changes and the struggles we can feel when our life gets turned upside down.

Both Applegate and Cardellini shine in their roles. As someone who grew up watching both Married with Children and Freaks and Geeks, I love seeing them both back on the small screen. The chemistry between the two actors helps make the series magical.

We can expect that season 2 delves even deeper into their friendship with the complications constantly coming up to threaten that relationship. I’m sure we will see more insane circumstances that they find themselves in and I am thrilled to see what happens next.

We have yet to be given a premiere date, but Feldman tweeted out that it will be in 2020.
